The main argument to this question is that smoking is harmful to the body. And that is an obvious fact. But then again, is a McDonalds cheeseburger healthy either? Of course not. So why do the people at my local church condemn smoking, but meet at McDonalds following every Wednesday night service? I find it slightly hypocritical. Instead of condemning someone else, make that decision for yourself using the Scripture, and let others do the same for themselves.

Ultimately, yes. In a way, though, all of us defile the temple of our bodies anytime we do anything unhealthy. The pizza I had last week counts, as does the aggressive driving I committed this morning.

1Cr 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

1Cr 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
