The Odyssey is the better van , but expensive to fix.

Honda is generally regarded higher than Toyota. An old Honda can sell for a lot of money, much more than a Toyota can. From what I've seen, the Honda Odyssey looks pretty awesome. Still, Toyotas are good cars so you should win either way.

MotorWeek reviewed each car back in 2005 and 2004.

If you went to Yahoo Autos and looked up each car, there will be multiple reviews by consumers.

Odyssey 2 1/2 stars:

Sienna 3 1/2 stars:

You can compare different models at Yahoo. I'd go with the 3 1/2 stars over the 2 1/2 stars; the Sienna over the Odyssey. Here are two models compared:

I only had a chance to drive the Honda Odyssey as a rental. I was super impressed with the drivability, comfort and driver's layout. The trunk, like most vans, was tiny but I believe the seats can be pushed forward. I personally prefer Honda over Toyota, though only by the tiniest margin.

Toyota will last a long time, but the Honda can carry quite a bit more than the Sienna.

They are both very, very high quality. THe Toyota Sienna has more power if that means anything to you, and it also has a model which offers All Wheel Drive which is very nice to have in the winter.
They both are made with the same quality and should both last about the same, so I would choose whichever one you personally like better, unless you need the extra power or AWD features on the Sienna.

i like the odyssey better, ive driven a 07 sienna xle and a fully loaded odyssey, the odyssey is so much funner to drive and its quick for a mini van. i think the odyssey has a better interior too

Hard choice -- I had a Toyota that ran and ran and ran for YEARS -- went to 300,000 miles with barely any problems. Yet, I understand also that Honda is great too. I'd be baffled myself. Personally, just because of my experienc with Toyota, I might tend to stick with them, ya know?

You might want to rent one to see how it fits with your family before you are stuck with a car you don't like for 3 or 4 years.
