Probably they don't feel you gave RC a chance. Were you active in your parish? Did you try the fellowship groups? Did you go on any retreats?

So when people go to easy "churches" that are all happiness, singing, and say God will grant you wealth - most RCs and established church goers believe you are listening to at best churchlite or at worst a false prophet or scam artist. Whether the church you attend is or not, they might think it is.

Also, many older folks have experienced scammers that claim to be born again and seeking to share the faith - but are after the pocketbook. Also your parents and older relatives may have suffered to keep their religion - be it in a communist country, through job and social discrimination in the US (there was a reason it was a big deal when Kennedy became President), or they may have been attacked by the KKK or other hate groups: my gr-grandfather barely escaped being tarred and feathered, they did burn a cross in front of his store. Some (yes, white) Catholics died from burns after that happened to them.

If you bring up your new church, stop. And investigate your family history - perhaps you'll understand, or at least have a neutral topic to discuss with them.

Catholicism has a belief called Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus. In the papal bull Unum Sanctus, Pope Boniface VIII declared "outside of [the Church of Rome] there is neither salvation nor the remission of sins".

If you walk away from Catholicism, you have become anathema. It's a serious thing to those raised Catholic. When I left Catholicism for Orthodoxy, I was lectured up one side and down the other. But the only difference being that there had been warming of relations between the Church of Rome (Catholicism) and the "Sister Churches of Orthodoxy". In your case, Evangelical Protestantism is considered heresy and you have put your soul in eternal danger under the doctrines of Catholicism. As your family loves you, they don't want to see you do that and will work hard to convince you to return. But ultimately, you have a gift of free will and will have to decide your beliefs on your own.

before todd's great grandparents were born you would have to have been born again to see God. cause no one lives long enough to see the birth of God the I AM mentioned in the Good News bible OT.

I AM=i am
I AM=I AIVI (sealed together)
larri (cut & sealed together)=i am

so although i was not born the I AM, i became the I AM. That is God forever according the the Good News so i guess the good news for europeans is God is a Light God, meaning not black or brown. Bragging rights forever, Man.

thats not racist is it?
can't help My skin color or the fact of the IVI=IIII I. And technically if i am not Larry anymore perhaps i shall change it to larri, so the italians could spell it, and not actually change the pronounciation?
guess that makes Me the closest thing to God of the OT.

Because you don't need to reject Catholicism to have a close relationship with the Lord. They are probably feeling guilty for not instructing you properly and leaving you to find truth elsewhere.

I'm so sorry to hear you're having such a problem with your family. But I think you maybe got in the wrong forum. This is genealogy and I think you want religion.

Good luck. I will keep you in my prayers

Because you have abandoned the true church of Jesus Christ....and they are worried about your immortal soul.
