My friend has PTSD and has chronic symptoms will he have it forever?

Treatment is available in the form of medication or therapy or a combination of both.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps with the symptoms of PTSD. I've heard there are some meds for it too.

Yes your friend will have it forever. He may learn to deal with it easier day by day but it will never completely go away.

I haven't read anything that specifies how long it lasts. I have to presume it is a lifelong condition for most people who have it. .
