I'm arriving at the Florence (Italy) airport next July, and wondering if there is a way to get to Serre di Rapolano (SdR) from there (SdR is about 35km east southeast from Siena). Would I take a train or bus to Siena, and go from there to SdR, or should I travel via Perugia or some other route? Should I just take a taxi from Siena or some other spot if no public transport is available? If you have any specific info on train numbers/routes or bus routes and costs, it would help too. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Serre di Rapolano is a "frazione" of Rapolano Terme municipality.
There train from Florence (both Santa Maria Novella, main and central station), Firenze Campo di Marte and Firenze Rifredi.

No direct connection, you had to catch at least one connecting train.

Also with a bus, but still you have to stop in Siena, then catch another bus to Rapolano.

Go to this page and you'll see the schedule for trains from Firenze (Check which Station!!!) to Rapolano, which is probably the same as Serre di Rapolano, since that's what I typed in.
I just picked a date at random, but it looks like frequent trains. There are surely buses, too from Florence and Siena.
Lotsa buses, some faster, some slower than trains.

Sorry, the link didn't store the results, but just type
from: Firenze
to: Rapolano
and your date and you'll get the results.
I use the German Rail site for all of Europe, since they have the most thorough information, even giving buses if the train doesn't exist.
