I turn 21 in a couple days and my dad promised to take me to get a tattoo as a present. I know you cannot drink before getting a tattoo because it thins your blood and blah blah blah... My question is would it cause a problem if I drink a few hours after the tattoo is done?? I'm having a party about 4 or 5 hours after the tattoo is supposed to be done, will it be okay for me to drink?

Drink up afterwards!!!

You can also show off your tattoo BUT make sure you dont let anyone touch it!!! Dirty hands are a no go!

Actually not only does it thin your blood but more importantly it can lead to bad decisions... LOL REALLY bad decisions!

it will be completely fine for you to go out and drink afterward. in fact EVERY time i get tattooed my artist tries to coax me into going out and drinking with him and the rest of our friends. i usually don't because after i get tattooed (it's usually a very long session) i'm just tired and want to lay on the couch but i have gone out before and gotten more than tipsy and my tattoo has been fine and it was all under the encouragement and supervision of my tattoo artist.

happy birthday!

Not drinking before a tattoo is a misunderstanding!!! I've had several tattoo artists tell me that... Even my own. If you bleed, chances are you would have bled regardless if you drank prior to getting tattooed. Tattoo's are the top layers of skin... Alcohol can't thin your blood so much that its going to drain out of you like a faucet. Don't worry... Drink it up afterwards- you only turn 21 once!!! I drink before I get all my tattoo's...

Well as long as the tattoo stops bleeding by then (if you even bleed) You should be fine, after that amount of time the healing process has begun and the skin should be sealing.

What is the tattoo of : 'I love Dad' ? 'Beer woman'? "Do not serve this girl; she is under 21"? what's HIS plan?
Drink thins the brain more than the blood; it just makes you as stupid as mature adults.

Absolutely. As long as you've stopped bleeding.

Note: Make your tattoo artist cover the tattoo in saran wrap instead of a bandage. (Saran wrap is better for it anyway.) That way, you can show it off without exposing it too soon!

That is fine. Just make sure you follow the care instructions the artist gives you and don't be banging up your new tat on anything.

I went out and got drunk right after my tattoo was done, and it didn't bleed or anything...

Good luck!
