Definitely. In my experience, the things they tell you not to do are the best of all.

It depends.
If the wicked Queen from the Snow White story came to me with an apple, I wouldn't eat it.
If an apple had worms, I wouldn't eat it.
Normal apples under normal circumstances, I would eat.
With respect to the Garden of Eden story, though, please keep the actual details of the story in mind.
1. God tells Adam (before Eve was made) not to eat from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, or else "in the day that [he] eats from it, [he] would surely die."
2. God doesn't find a suitable "companion" for Adam among all the other creatures, so he makes Eve.
3. Satan then asks Eve if she really can't eat from any tree. Eve explains that they can eat from any tree except the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and that God had said that "you shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die."
3. The serpent tells Eve they will not die, but that instead, their "eyes will be opened, and they will be like God, knowing good and evil."
4. Eve recognized the tree as in fact good, and she desired to become wise, so she ate it and gave some to Adam, who also ate.
5. Their eyes were opened.
Incidentally, neither of them died that day. According to the bible, Adam lived to be 960 years old.
So, then, who told the truth?
I don't know about you, but I would indeed want my eyes opened so that I could know good from evil. I'd partake of the apple.
Interestingly, there is a Jewish interpretation which points out the difference between what God told Adam and what Eve told the Serpent about the tree.... i.e. God did not say to Adam that the tree could not be touched. This Jewish interpretation suggests that Adam added the bit about not touching the tree on his own when he told Eve not to eat it, and then when Eve told the Serpent they couldn't touch it, he pushed her into the tree, showing her that she wouldn't be hurt if she touched it. It was then that she questioned whether to eat the apple or not. The point of this interpretation was to emphasize that one needs to be very accurate when instructing others in God's rules. I always thought that was an interesting way of looking at the story.

A question for your question: If the serpent had not appeared to tempt Eve into taking the apple (fruit really) How long would it have taken for either Adam or Eve's curiousity to get the best of them and bite in?
I think the event was bound to occur. Now if someone bit in and dropped over dead in front of the pair, I don't think they would have had much doubt about leaving that tree alone.

Yes, if someone said, "Don't think of a pink elephant"...would you?
I would eat the apple because I would naturally assume it was something the person really wanted me to do even though he was being devious about it.

Everyone would say, when posed this question, that if they had been given the chance they would have done things differently. But in all honesty, when you are put on the spot like that you don't know what you would do. Its the same thing as being a Freshman at a college party where there are drugs and alcohol. Your parents aren't there. Your friends are egging you on. You've never tried this before and you are curious. Personally I feel that, given this situation, no one knows what they would really do until they themselves are placed in it.

Yes it is my evil nature I suppose.
If someone says "don't " too many times it compels me want to.
Case in point: Absinthe sales in the US are banned. Of course the moment I found out about this I had to buy it. I went on-line, sending $100 bucks to Germany and well guess what it's nasty as hell...but I had too...the curiosity was killing me.
But there is good even within the sin.
Just as Adam was able to look at Eve's body with all new delight...I discovered Cannabis Vodka...that's some good stuff!

People can say they wouldn't eat the apple all they want...I do not doubt if God came and talked to someone face to face and said,"Hey don't eat that apple." that we would actually eat it But we really eat the apple everytime we sin willingfully. God tells us not to sin and we sin. The same with the apple.
