Did you put this drive in? Did you make sure if it was on the same IDE that you made it the slave ?

Normally on IDE connections ( 2 in a computer ) number 1 can have two Hard Drives or two CD Drives or a combo of both. Then one is master and one is slave.

i had this problem i while ago I believe what you have to do is delete "low" something and "high" something. I found the answer somewhere on google. It sounds weird but this is what you have to do. You have to delete two specific files in your registry. It may sound weird that you have to "delete" files in order to make your drive work but trust me look it up on google. If you see anything pertaining to deleting high or low files in the registry thats what you should follow.

Insert the installation disk to install the driver and if it doesn't autorun to install the driver, go to Start->Run->( Check the name of the drive) and type D:\ SETUP.EXE or E:\ whatever? After checking the ribbon cable is snuggly installed in the CD ROM.

Has your warranty expired? You should probably get the disc driver fixed or buy a new one.
