I have contractors re-doing the bathroom and I was instructed to wait a certain amount of time before WALKING on the floor. It hasn't been grouted yet. I am wondering if the shower/tub can be used or if my household has to forgo bathing for the night. Ya I forgot to ask the contractor :P

The tile should be allowed to set for at least a couple of days. If they wait longer than that to grout the tile, you have to give the grout about 24 hours to set and, if the tilers put down a tile sealer, you have to wait a few hours for that to dry, too. So, I would say 72 hours seems about right.

Don't get too anxious. You don't want to mess up the tile and/or the grout, and end up having to redo it or living with the damage (shifted tile, cracked grout, etc.).

Do not get the floor wet as it may effect the adhesive and make it very hard to grout the floor properly, if you do have to use either the bath or shower tonight be very careful not to wet the floor.
In case you are wondering how I know this I am both a bathroom installer and tiler.
