The Baptists and Pentecostals believe the same on the basics of the Trinity, etc., but the Pentecostals lean more toward the gifts of the Spirit and Baptism of the Holy Spirit. They are open to the Holy Spirit in a different way than the Baptists are. Baptists enphasize the baptism in the water (imersion) and Pentecostals believe the same but they believe in the Holy Spirit of God´s gifts in such way that the primitive church (what is so good on my opinion).

I think you mean Pentecostal which is different than pentecost. The differences are 1) Pentecostals believe in the gifts of the spirit are used today. Speaking in tongues is a bone of contention with other main line churches, too. 2) They "dance in the spirit" in the aisles. The believe in the holy trinity, resurrection, salvation, virgin birth are the same. Baptists practice "legalism" 1) no dancing 2) Take the Bible more literal. Both these churches are right on, but have differences as described such as Catholics praying to Mary when it is Jesus that you worship. Oops, that remark is a hair raiser.

Pentecostals believe that their church started at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came down and filled the followers of Jesus. Baptists generally believe in adult baptism.

Baptist believe that once you are saved you are always saved, meaning they believe that once they are saved they can do what ever they want and still enter the Kingdom of Heaven. They don't believe in being baptized with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of Speaking with other tongues. Those are the two main differences.

a while back?...there was no differance...you couldn't tell one from the other...the same with JW's too....no kiding!?! then some "weirdo's " got in positions and decided to change things so they would be "distinct" and differant, and threw a monkey wrench into everything....(divisions) and did less of this, and took out that, and said "no more this!" and kicked people out...told them to go elsewhere...you know,..they "refined their religion"(s) but, you go ahead and check it out... "Peace!" (we used to get along.... :( ....)
