I built a small dc motor for a class using an electromagnet and two AA batteries. The requirements limit me to only using (2) 1.5V batteries. I read that I can increase the torque by either increasing the magnetic field or increase the current. My goal is to lift as much as possible with it, and I am on a limited budget, so the increase in current sounds more desirable I think. Please help!

**The motor does not have to do anything but lift as much as possible. So any suggestions to increase the torque is welcome. I do not have time for a total redesign

Two "D" cell batteries will give you more current at the same voltage. If you parallel two 3 volt lithium batteries you will get the same voltage at a higher current.

definite, I too, observed that e mail floating around. It must be a lantern battery from the present circumstances, reason merely this previous weekend we opened a older lantern battery, ie metallic exterior casing and it did not have 32 AA batteries, it had 4 very super ie. D-cellular batteries in it. yet i'm desirous to bypass purchase a plastic cased lantern battery and notice for myself! Now the place did I positioned those cord cutters and screw driving force? I merely desire the manufactures don't get wind of this, or we are all sunk. That darn lantern battery will fee $a hundred.00 money. lol

you should have put them in parallel and used thicker wire
in the motor

you can change the torque with a gearbox
bit like a transformer, torque varies as the square of the N
of the gearing

You can easily increase your torque and lifting capacity by gearing down the motor.

You get more current by having a thicker wire. The current way will kill your batteries fast and it is less efficient. You need to design an efficient motor.
