Just bought a Toshiba hda3 and hooked a hdmi to dvi cable to my westinghouse TV. There is no sound. I changed the settings on the player to match the tv but still nothing. All I have left is to update the firmware but having trouble hooking it to the net. Not getting a gateway. Any ideas on the sound problem besides the firmware?

I agree with Mike S. if your TV doesn't have an HDMI option. Try to use the digital audio from your new DVD player. To do this, check the audio inputs associated with the DVI connector on the back of your TV and choose the digital input. It's hard to say what it will be named since we don't have a model number but it will either be a fiber optic link or an orange RCA style connector.

There will be no sound with DVI only HDMI. Try a HDMI cable on both ends and setup dvd player to output only PCM audio in the menu system this will let the tv speakers play.

If your tv only has DVI, you will need to use the audio outputs on your Toshiba and run those to your TV also.
