My cat she hardly meows but she tries it very low. It almost sounds like she trying to get the sound out. I expect her to come me and make the hungry sound if I haven't fed her. When she hears me coming down the basement she comes out trying to make her meow sound. What the problem cat lovers?.

cats aren't vocal to one another, and if she grew up not knowing that you want her to talk, she probably just doesn't feel the need to make an actual noise.

i have one cat who can scream up a storm when something is happening that he doesn't like, but for the most part his comments come out as little squeeks..

If you are getting the silent meow - meaning she makes the motions but no sound comes out at all, then you have a very polite cat. This is the highest form of "please" a cat can offer

some cats just have a very quiet meow if u've had several cats u would start to notice that they all sound different it may be a breed thing too i had a pure bred persian and she had such a quiet gentle meow except when she was mad but i have a domestic shorthair n she can be soooo loud so i think it depends onthe cat but if u feel something is really wrong with her take her to the vet and see if theres somethin wrong with her throat or vocal cords its probably just the way she is

How old is she? when one of mine was a kitten I thought she wasn't ever going to meow. However when she got older and started she meow's all the time now. Other wise I have no answer. I hope she gets her meow. I also have one that sounds like she is saying mom every time she sees me.

My parents found a cat about a year ago. While she was living with us she had 3 batches of kittens. The momma cat has never been able to meow and all her kittens could barely do it themselves. I am pretty sure it just has to do with there voiceboxes not devolping correctly. They probably inbred at one point and it messed them up.
