I was babysitting a 1 year old cousin and her mom said that her urine smelled weird lately, and sure enough, the second she peed i smelled it. then today i went to the bathroom and smelled the same thing

what is it? and is it contagious where i coulda gotten it from changing my cousins diaper? i use purell after.

i only drink like 2 glasses of water a dya, and like 2 glasses of juice, and no soda.

no burning or anything when i go to the bathroom, but i have had extra discharge it seems lately, but i didnt notice the urine odor til a few minutes ago

what could it be? i feel pretty normal otherwise, kinda tired lately but ive been pretty busy

I think you're just dehydrated. 2 glasses of water a day is about 1/4 of what you should have in a day. The less water you drink, the stronger your pee smells. Your pee should be clear, other than the first pee of the day.

The only other thing I know of that makes your pee smell funny is asparagus.

If you had a bladder infection it would hurt and you would know it.

It'd be very odd to have caught a urinary infection from a 1 year old in this manner. You might get gastro changing a diaper but most people are fairly careful with handwashing after a diaper change.

Maybe the juice in that house is a little funny :-)

Maybe you have a urine infection.

If you are worried that you have a urine infection, perhaps you would do best to go and see a doctor to do a urine test. Then they could give you antibiotics if you actually do have a urine infection.

Cranberry juice is good for urine infections. But it is not a sure-fire preventative.

Cousin could be diabetes. You should be drinking way more water. FYI - cranberry juice: not as great as everyone says. Cranberries in real life taste horrible, and cranberry juice needs to be sweetened A TON. Sugar helps bacteria grow, so if you have an infection (ie, bladder or yeast), you are making it worse. Buy all natural cranberry juice, and try to force it down with about 1:1 water dilution.

This was once truthfully my first being pregnant symptom and I spotted it earlier than I even learned I was once pregnant. Urine involves ammonia and that's what smells strongly to pregnant females.... and why many can not stand the odor of bleach (which additionally involves ammonia)

could be a lot of things! Could be dehydration or could be a bacterial infection or a parasitic infection. Your doctor is the only one that can deterim that by a urine sample.
