what I mean by Hunting for Sport is killing an animal for fun and not eat it.

Most people have at least one hobby that others wish was illegal. Let's just live and let live. If some guy likes sitting in trees shooting at Bambi, I say let him.

I try to be tolerant of the opinion of others, especially when their ignorance on a topic leads them astray. Also, when they don't know any better, I figure they're better staying away altogether. But in wistful moments, I do wish everybody could be infused with knowledge. In sport hunting, it would be nice if it were required. It isn't very humane to abstain, but those who do probably need to.
I have a particular fondness for some species of animals, and I'd hate to see their populations reduced or eliminated. In general, that requires sport hunting. If things were left to non-hunters, we'd have little wildlife indeed. The idea is just too inhumane for me to contemplate, and I've seen the effect when proper hunting hasn't been done, so I'll continue to hunt and support the wildlife.

Sport hunting is far less inhumane than permitting animal herds to overpopulate, and starve to death, or slowly die of wasting diseases.

In every country that has outlawed sport hunting, animal populations have declined severely.

If you really want to preserve wildlife, support hunting. We hunters are the ones who get off our wallets and voluntarily pay high taxes to support wildlife. Every time a hunter buys a gun, cartridges, scopes, or other hunting gear, we are paying taxes that support state and federal wildlife programs, these are taxes NOT LEVIED on non-hunting merchandise.

So, to answer your question, NO hunting should not be made illegal.

If you were really the bunny hugger you think you are, you'd support hunters yourself.

In the U.S hunting for "sport only" is illegal for all game animals. It is unlawful to waste the edible portion of any game animal or game fish.

Exception, non game animals. Such as invasive species or feral populations.

You can "sport" hunt all you want for game animals, but you better not waste the meat.

Hunting trolls (people who ask trolling questions in the hunting area) should be entirely legal and is totally moral.

As an omnivore I am made to eat dead animals. Letting them have a nice life in the wild followed by a sudden and unexpected death is vastly more moral than chaining them up in a feed lot then herding them in to a meat processing plant, half stunning them and the disemboweling them while they are still alive.

Go eat some lettuce.

If your hunting for food then it's harvesting (not a sporting event). If your hunting just to kill something and leaving it to rot, then yes it is inhumane and it is illegal.

Hunting is not a sport and if you consider it a sport then I guess farming veggies is a sport. It's just a way of harvesting food (done for thousands if not millions of years)

I've never hunted, but I have no problems against it.

For thousands of years, hunting was the only way that huanity was able to gather the nourishment needed to thrive as a species. You can directly attribute the ability of humanity to hunt for you to even have the ability to think that hunting should be illegal.

I dont really see hunting as a sport, although to be an accurate shot does take training and precision.

And, TOFU SUCKS!, so animal killing must continue.

people who think hunting is cruel and should not take place (illegal), who eat meat at all-think about it for a second, cattle and pigs are pushed through a slaughter house/butcher shop-they are first stunned (knocked unconsience) then they have there throats slit (while still alive) to bleed out. trust me i worked at one for awhile. so looking back i guess hunting isn't as inhumane as you thought. somebody else's response said something about wearing or showing off the skin-but you don't think twice about putting on a cotton clothing-true sheep didn't die but still!, how about angora sweaters and whatnot.

If hunting were illegal, there would be an environmental disaster. Why not learn some facts before opening your mouth?

People who are against hunting are actually a very small and deviant population, being totally against history and the laws of nature.

I see a lot of ignorant anti-hunting types are answering this question.
I think I should point out that EACH and EVERY one of them is alive today because their ancestors hunted!
