My 15 month old son was licking my plate that had ranch on it and it got all over his face. I wiped his face and it's red everywhere that he had the ranch on. Is it from the ranch or what was in the salad? It was ice burg, green pepper, red pepper, kidney beans, corn, and ranch.
Should I be concerned?

he's eaten all this before and showed no sign of allergic reactions. could his skin just be really sensitive?

my daughter has the exact same reaction to ranch. She does have very sensitive skin. She loves the stuff and sometimes its the only way to get her to eat some things. I just try to help her not to get it on her skin and if she does I use aquaphor ointment and that usually helps. I think it is probably the vinegar in it that is hard on the skin. That has been her only reaction to is so I don't worry too much.

If those were all new things for him to come in contact with, then it will be hard to tell. If the redness goes away without scarring and if his breathing wasn't affected, you shouldn't worry too much.

You might want to be aware of his reaction to any of these things in the future in case he does have an allergy. Though it's hard when they just grab for things, try to only expose him to one new food item at a time so you can more easily figure out if he is allergic to something specific.

you could try introducing all those foods and see if any lead to a reaction. But kids do have immature oil glands, so it could just be the oil in the dressing. I know my little one can't have cinnamon of all things. Good luck to you.
