Would one group claim to be smarter than the other? sort of like an intellectual form of snobbery. Or would they be like christians and smile and try to be very inviting?

Just because we are Atheist doesn't mean that we agree with or even like other Atheists.

Yes there would be division but not for those reasons. Atheists tend to be more singular than religious people, having arrived at their lack of belief through their own particular experiences. In fact the only thing we share is a disbelief in deities, not God in particular but Shiva, Odin and all the rest as well.
Truth be told, we wouldnt be able to organize together if religion was the only meal being served as we would have nothing to talk about. However we would come if you included an open bar

Hmm, that's interesting. Yet insulting.
I doubt there would be much division, because there would be no need for it. At least, not along religious lines. Then again, atheists don't need to organize. Because they don't need anyone else to help them support their beliefs. Being atheist in a predominately Christian society requires strength. And in case you haven't noticed, not all Christians are all smiles. That's the precise reason why there is division among the different types of Christianity. Most denominations believe that everyone else is going to Hell - that's not very inviting. If you're asking whether atheists would welcome people into their lack-of-faith just like Christians welcome everyone into their faith - I don't think they would really care. Believe it or not, most atheists I know don't judge you based upon which religion you're practicing, as long as you don't force it on them.

Live and let live!

"Would the be like Christians and smile and try to be very inviting?" What are you talking about? Look at how the protestants and catholics treat one another. Look at how almost all Christians treat Mormons. they may smile but behind closed doors they are making it very clear that they are burning in hell.

Plus people always segregate themselves. It is human nature. Just because we don't believe in god doesn't mean we will like one another or feel the same about other issues.

There ARE different atheists. Some ARE smarter than the other. And some ARE very inviting and SMILE.
Are you suggesting that it is just Xtians who smile? Smile why? With or without reason? Your question is very ambiguous, you know!

What on earth makes you think we want to join a group?
R&S is much more FUN.

The fundie comedy here is mouth-watering.

Basically all atheists agree with the fact bible god doesn't exist.
Most of us don't really care too much about organised Abrahamic style religions other than for the fact that fundies in islam and xianity both want to curtail our freedoms; both want EVERYONE to live under their brand of Shari'a Law - both being based in Old Testament myths and superstitions.

Notice I left out Jews?
Why?
They don't go around DEMANDING everyone else on the planet live and believe as they do.

Someones informed your wrong along the way. I have met plenty of Christians who were "snobbery"...

We are no different than you. Some are bad, and some are good. We are both humans; We both make mistakes. This doesn't mean we don't have morals or ethics.

I honestly think the question is snobbish .
I agree with Ronald H. McChrist. :)

The world isn't "Athiests" and "Christians". There's religious people, agnostics, and athiests. "Religious people" are extremely divided, is that a form of snobbery? Are Christians inviting to other religions, who have just as much reason to believe in their religion as Christians do?

Probably the latter. But it's hard to unite us into one group, because atheists are usually very independent thinkers, and don't conform well under one specific authority. We are extremely diverse, and that's why it is difficult to "ban together" and try to influence others.

There already is division among us, because the only defining characteristic that we share is that we don't believe in god, and all the rest lies with the individual.

They could be sorted into their respective camps ....
for example...

one of your favourites.... divided by sexual preferences.

Or perhaps into dispositions... bigots to the left... freedom fighters to the right..

Or perhaps organised by height ...sorry kid..... try the dodgem cars.

Of course, there being no reason to "organise" since Atheists hold no belief in gawd... there is no mutually beneficial religious cause or campaign uniting them.

Yes, Christians can be very polite at their best can't they.

Every Atheist would effectively stand alone.

We hold one thing in common, and only one thing: There is no deity of any kind, by any name.

Everything else, from ghosts, ESP, clairvoyance, clairaudience, the color of Fox Mulder's underwear, UFOs, time travel, etc... is entirely up to the individual.
