Yes,i do find it silly to put labels on God fearing people or anyone for that matter.

I once saw this bumper sticker and i thought it was kinda cute..."Not a religous freak, just a fruitful Christian". =)

Well, I think it depends on the way the person says it to you. There's actually a website called jesusfreakhideout.com where they have forums on there and you can talk to people on the forums. I'm not sure if I would be offended by someone calling me that because no one ever called me a jesus freak before but if someone calls you one don't take it to heart about it, just move on. I learned this the hard way because I would get offended when people would call other people retarded because someone close to me is mentally retarded and I would tell them to stop but they wouldn't so eventually I stopped trying and when I hear someone call someone else retarded I just ignore it. You won't be able to stop people calling you or other people a Jesus Freak. So if it offends you then don't worry about it, shake it off and move on.

At first I was defended by the term, but i had to fully defined the term "FREAK". The work freak is used in positive way describing there love for Christ. At this point I'd rather be know as a Jesus freak.

No, I don't mind. A Jesus Freak is a Christian who passionately loves God and isn't afraid to tell people that. So I'd be quite flattered actually.
I know it was used as a term of abuse but, with the help of DC talk, I think we've reclaimed it =]
Why do you feel it's offensive though?
God bless

If you understand where the expression comes from, it shouldn't be offensive to you.

Back in the 60's, people who were totally into drugs were called freaks. I'm not talking about hippies, who were into a philosophy, I'm talking about people whose total reason for being was drugs. There were speed freaks, acid freaks, heroin freaks, etc. So the Christian young people who maybe were counter-culture, but still fervently believed in Christ, started calling themselves "Jesus freaks." One of the churches that was started by Jesus freaks is Calvary Chapel.

I'd consider it a compliment to be called a Jesus freak.

we call eachother Christians... if I understand correctly that was a diragatory term given to the deciples in Antioch by the pagans... similar to how some athiests on this forum call us christers and such. Baptist is the kind of church I go to. The term Baptist is dirived from "anabaptist" which means "baptized a second time". It was a dirogatory term given us by the catholics who said that any one who converted to baptist from catholic was being baptized a second time. Terms bare a certain reproach and we tend to accept that reproach. I don't like the term "Jesus Freak" but I certainly don't mind being called one.

I don't find it offensive. The original Jesus Freaks, back in the 1960s and 1970s, actually tried to take the words of Jesus seriously. Many of them lived communally and gave their belongings to the poor. A few people using the term "Jesus Freaks" today don't even know who the actual Jesus Freaks were, but in my opinion, worse things could happen to a Christian than being compared to a generation of people who actually cared about their religious beliefs and tried to stick to their interpretation of Christian principles, regardless of what others thought of them.

Jesus said that we would be offended because of Him, however if you think being called a Jesus "freak" is really being offended, we should all move to countries like China where people are really being persecuted for their faith, even to the point of death. We are called sheep in the bible- does that offend you?
I am on fire for Jesus Christ and if someone calls me a freak for Jesus- I would just respond- HALLELUJAH!!

When they hear that I'm a Jesus freak?
What will people do when they find that its true?
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak
There ain't no disguising the truth!

I'm not particularly offended by it, but it does show the ignorance of the ones who use that term. To me, a freak is an abberation. To call someone who is Christlike (which is what "Christian" means) and seeks to emulate the very creator, is a gross misunderstanding of nature and theology. But they who use that term will not have to answer to me, they will answer to the one whose name they blaspheme.
