Just curious. My cat varies between 4.5-7.5 hrs. Sometimes he will go a little longer, up to 9 hrs.

He used to go only twice a day when he was younger. But now I feed him only dry, so he drinks more water. The vet put him a diet of Iams Active Maturity.

Wow Brutus that's a lot of kitties! :) I'd love to have as many as you but I couldn't afford it and my allergies couldn't take it. He gets only dry food, per his vet. So he drinks a lot of water, especially at night. I had his urine tested just yesterday and vet said looks fine.

A vet once told me that healthy cats are "real troopers" when it comes to holding their urine. Since you had his urine tested and it is fine, I wouldn't worry any more about it. I'll bet that when he does go in the box, he goes a LOT each time!

I'm glad you are the kind of owner who is aware of your cat's behavior so if something does go wrong, you'll be able to take care of him right away. Not everyone is pays enough attention to their furry friends. Kudos to you!

Good luck!

Mine go a little more often than that, but then they drink water all day, too. Could it be that your cat isn't drinking enough water? If his pee is really dark, or smelly, he probably isn't getting enough fluid. But if that's not the case, I wouldn't worry too much about it. You don't have him crated up, or unable to get to his litterpan, do you? A problem would be...if he started drinking a LOT, and losing weight. Then you might have a diabetes problem, but he sounds like he's ok, now. Good luck.....

Wouldn't it be similar to the times between humans go? It would depend on how much liquid we consume, so I would think the same goes for them. That seems weird that the time between is so long but it could be normal.
