you should have a passport. (or at least ID) if not then a proof of residence is good.
yup, 18 was old enough to drink in all the cool provinces, now 19 is ok for everywhere else. some places might ask for ID to get into bars.

At 19 you can drink anywhere in Canada. You only need a passport if you are flying. If you are driving you require proof of citizenship and proof of residence. For example, a drivers license and a birth certificate.

Drink booze you bet, depending on when you are going Jan 01. 2008 you are SUPPOSED to have a passport to re-enter the US. I was talking with US customs last week and the guy at the border didn't know any more than what has been in the news. Also you will need photo ID to drink in most places.
Enjoy your trip, remember the Canadian dollar is worth more than the American one and please DON'T drink and drive.
