I decided to get themonitor RS! speakers. But when it comes to integrated amp, I am debating to get either the marants or NAD ones, they both cost almost the same , but the NAD has a s/n of 100 db and the Marantz a s/n of 88 db. Will that make a big difference to the audio quality ? What do you suggest ? I couldn't compare them side by side since the vendors are different. Any suggestion ?

I know Robert, If budget wasn't the issue I would even get tube amps. But I am limiting to get all my system under $1200. Including everything. cable speaker and systems.

I have had both brands over the years and got the most satisfaction from Marantz. Better styling, better features and comparable sound. If my decision was purely on sound then I would probably go with the Nad but they are so ugly. Hard to tell though without knowing the model No.s as which one is best varies from model to model.

Nice choice of speaker by the way, you will love them.

Both are very good for the money, you will not go far wrong with either. You must have done your research!
With two amps so closely matched Its down to personal taste really, which one makes you happier.
I would still go with the Marantz for the looks though.

Hi.During the 1960s McIntosh and Marantz were the best companies in electronics. However,in the 70s and 80s they were greatly surpassed in terms of sound quality and construction by companies like Mark Levinson and Audio Reasearch. Hi.-End (or high performance ) audio was born.

Amplifiers can be divided into 3 groups for sound quality.

(1) BEST .....Separate Pre-Amplifier/Power Amplifier.
(2) GOOD ......Integrated Amplifier.
(3) FAIR ......Receiver.

If you are after Hi. Fi. Stereo ,then an Integrated Amplifier won't give it to you.

EDIT...I understand .Noah.
.If you want an integrated stereo amplifier that performs better than the NAD and the Marantz then the Cambridge Audio Azur 640a Integrated Amplifier is the one to buy. It is THAT good. It is only $50 more than the NAD.

Here is a review on the Cambridge.

The s/n is really to close to call in sound difference but if you were to go with separates you could get a even better signal to noise ratio.
