would you help her and her child if somehow you were at the spot where both were slowly,painfully dieing of thirst and fever, knowing that if you helped an illegal person trying to cross the US border, you would be helping a CRIMINAL? or would you do nothing and let the CRIMINALS die? to make it worse, there's no border patrol around and you don't have a cellphone or anyway of contacting help, and you happen to be holding bread and a gallon of water. just put your racist self in that situation and answer.

This is a really hard topic, they are pros and cons to both sides. Sometimes we just jump into conclusions based in what we currently now. They are historical and political antecedents that can be use in favor of immigration. This is kind of like who was burn first the egg or the chicken?
Number one we now that crossing the border is an ilegall act, and we should don't put ourselves in a situation like that.
Why is a women putting the life of her kid in such a bad high risk situation. That is what is criminal. but in the other side what if she propably run away from some type of injustice....
regardless of what her main reason is I will help her that is my obligation as a human being...and later I will let the justice do their job.

While I would never be out in the middle of the desert with only a gallon of water and a loaf of bread and no way of contacting help, /if/ I did find myself in that extremely dangerous survival situation, I'm afraid I'd put my own life ahead of any nearly-dead persons I might stumble across, be they illegal alien invaders or minutemen vigilantes.


Answer to follow-up question: I'm really disinclined to leave the area where I've lived all my life. If was facing the choice between becoming a criminal and letting my family starve, I would, by preference choose profitable crimes that I could commit locally.

Rookie it looks as if you tried to make illegal immigration a racial issue but for most of us it is not. I would give the food and water and even walk with the mother and child back to Mexico savvy. I do not blame people for trying to better their lives but they should do it legally. It has nothing to do with race or wealth but rather it is an issue of what is right for our country. We can not even get our homeless off the streets and into housing so why would we add to the problem?
I do not know about you but there is no guaranty that I will be able to put my kids through college with the money I make so should my kids future be squandered in order to pay for the well being of criminals? I do not see this as being right.

..There are various centers that will (free of charge) help you confront your irrational hatred. You should get an immediate appointment.
How people look or where they came from has nothing to do with the fact that good/bad people exist duh!
I believe that endangering children is irresponsible. However .I would provide H20 and food if I had it even tho the mom endangered herself and child. I would also notify border patrol so they could provide further medical attention if needed.

They are not breaking the law until they cross the border. If they are at the border, I could offer to hand them the food and water over the fence, on the condition that once they took it, they would head back away from the border, without crossing. This would not be illegal unless some law prohibits exporting food and water to another country without reporting it to the government.

I was once in a city in AZ... I seen a mother who had her child go into a dumpster for food, while she watched ...I wanted to sooooo badly tell that parent that it is her job to get the food not her childs.... but that's another story sorry...

I would say yes, help her and the child out if that's what makes them survive and it'd be something that makes you feel good ..However, how many others will you be seeing? Will alot more immigrants be passing by your way? If so , I would strongly say.....NO only because you are enabling and if their are more mothers and children to feed, can you feed all? no

well i would give water and food, you know what surprises me about people complaining about border crossing they i think never saw are met someone as i did who lost his family crossing the east German border. which had landmines to prevent people crossing into the west. that was and is one of the reasons i will always say the free movement of people is a basic right and should be always there. besides my pinko liberal views as they have been called by some on here are not going to change so why they think insulting me is going to make me change it is not. lets face it hearing my friend who i will call Frank and his story has been in my mind for a lot longer than any insults on my attitude to things. i am above all a human being and my nationality is just an accident of where i was born. i could just like these people have been born in Darfur and running for my life. think of that before you go immigrants are no good they have had things to do and have to escape something sometimes and that risk of escape has been at times at the risk of death.

i have no medical insurance and i can get none from the government. why should we give free medical to someone that is here illegally. my children had to take out loans to go to school, why should we give free education to illegals? i get no food assistance, why should they. i get no help with rent, why should they.
