The Bible records God speaking audibly to people many times (Exodus 3:14; Joshua 1:1; Judges 6:18; 1 Samuel 3:11; 2 Samuel 2:1; Job 40:1; Isaiah 7:3; Jeremiah 1:7; Acts 8:26; 9:15 – this is just a small sampling). There is no Biblical reason why God could not or would not speak to a person audibly today. With the hundreds of times the Bible records God speaking, we have to remember that they occur over the course of 4000 years of human history. God speaking audibly is the exception, not the rule. Even in the Biblically recorded instances of God speaking, it is not always clear whether it was an audible voice, an inner voice, or a mental impression.

The entire BIBLE is written from the inspiration of GOD. I love the New Testament and the Old. Psalms. We should study the entile BIBLE there is so much to understand and learn from the BIBLE. The BIBLE is small enough that a lamb can walk through it or the BIBLE is deep enough that an elephant can swim in. The depth you desire will be open to you. Jesus said that those who seek "will find", knock and the door will be opened. He that hath an ear let him hear. The books of the BIBLE are all good and an excellent way to understand the true grace offered by GOD and our savior his son JESUS Christ. we sould read all parts of the BIBLE as followers of Christ. The BIBLE tells us to pray always, do not be luke warm be on fire for GOD the more you talk and read his word the more our eyes will be open to the truth.

God still uses people to be His mouthpiece. We just have a really warped idea of who in fact these people are. That's what the "Great Commission" is all about .There are still prophets today. * The New Testament teaches about the "five-fold ministry." God always secures a remnant unto Himself.
What's up with the paganism on this sight?
Take your tarot cards and witchcraft somewhere else!
(That's the difference my friend: We have become a passive nation allowing anything and anyone into the "sheep-fold."
The truth is this sudden sweep of the occult in our nation will bring the judgment of God...watch and see!)
True prophets have never been popular, had their own network, or had any wealth (and if they did they gave it away)
We should take heed to the signs around us as recorded in Revelation. We are the church of Laodacia.

Christians will argue that no one is listening the way that they were in the past
Atheists will say that the prophets were delusional and there is no god so it is impossible that one spoke to anyone
I say that men don't know how to comprehend the voice of god. The voices the prophets heard were their own. And modern man has learned that telling others that they've heard the voice of god usually ends in a violent death (Joan of Arc is a perfect example) or imprisonment in some sort of asylum. It isn't that he isn't speaking....it's that no one is talking about it.

God speaks to people everyday through the Holy Spirit. The problem is most are not listening. See Luke chapter 11 & 12.

Is the question really: why doesn't he talk to people directly today as he did with the prophets in the past?
Many believe he does. Read "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Krakauer to see how Mormon offshoots believe in this kind of revelation.
I personally don't believe he does. I don't believe he ever did. He may have, but there's no evidence besides the bible (and that doesn't qualify as evidence), and the easier explanation (as with modern revelation) is that it's delusion (conscious or not).

In the XVI century, the Blessed Virgin Mary spoke to San Juan Diego in Tepeyac. Mexico. His tilma, with the image of the Virgin, is kept in Mexico cathedral
In the XIX the Blessed Virgin Mary spoke in the town of Lourdes, France.
At the beginning of the XX century, in 1917, She spoke in Fatima to three children. Later She spoke again in Medugorge, Yugoslavia.
Some people say that She appeared in Conyers, Georgia, but that has not been confirmed by the Church.
What else do you want ?

God is the same yesterday,today, and tomorrow. Believers in Jesus are allowed an infilling of the Holy Spirit. The bible confirms our communication with God. The Holy Spirit empowers us to obey His directions. I have obeyed the Holy Spirit many times before I knew it was in the bible. When you act in faith the devil will try to lie to you and then the Holy Spirit will confirm to youn in the word that you are right. But if you act presumptuously then the Holy Spirit will convict you of sin. The bible helps us to live intelligently but the Holy Spirit will help us make decisions when we are unsure. Some people call Him our conscience.

Heb 1:1 In many ways and in various ways of old, God spoke to the fathers in the prophets;
Heb 1:2 in these last days He spoke to us in the Son, whom He appointed heir of all; through whom He indeed made the ages;
Christ is His final revelation to man.

God primarily speaks through the Bible, but if you have a close relationship with him he will speak directly to you. The funny thing is that it isn't a clap of thunder or anything but it is a soft whisper in your heart. He is teaching us to listen and hear his voice. The more you listen and obey what he says the more you will hear his voice. Like a mother who can hear her child cry in a room filled with children.
