I am against guns. I have seen first hand the aftermath of a gunman on a rampage.
Anyone who says guns don't kill people , people kill people please think on this- 12 students and a teacher wouldn't have been murdered and 23 others injured if Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold only had knives as weapons.

A lot of misrepresentations going on here.
First, many, including myself, have used handguns for hunting. The biggest game I have hunted is Whitetailed Deer. I know others who have hunted much bigger and dangerous game with handguns. So the moron who said they have no purpose needs to get an education.
Second, as some pointed out, we do have a right to self-defense. A handgun is the easiest to use in such a situation, followed closely by a shotgun.
I own several rifles, shotguns, and handguns. I am not currently a member of the NRA, but I am seriously considering joining again. The vocal liberal agenda would disarm all of us and leave us helpless against crimminals who wish to harm us. It is idiotic.
People need to get the facts about the school shootings like VT and Columbine. Those guns were obtained illegally and in some cases the law enforcement broke down because of lack of communication and lack of clear policies on how to deal with some of these nut cases who do these crimes.
For the moron who rejects the "guns don't kill people, people do" argument with his idiotic "hammers don't build houses"....... hey who is holding the hammer? Guns and hammers are inanimate objects until they are used in a wrong or criminal manner. If that is your argument, then you should ban cars because some people drive drunk and kill other people because of it.
Again, all of these items, cars, guns, knives, hammers, baseball bats, are inanimate objects which cannot hurt anyone unless a human being uses them improperly. By the reasoning of the liberal left, all these items should be banned.
Edit: Lets take this one step further. The job of Law Enforcement is to investigate your murder after you are already dead. It is not their responsibility to protect every single individual and keep them alive.

I am all for ownership of hunting rifles. That was the type of gun, (ok actually it was a musket), that our founding fathers owned back in the 1700's. They are very hard to conceal and more cumbersome than a hand gun.
I do not support hand guns. They serve little purpose in hunting except to have as a side arm in the event you are treed by a bear and need something to defend yourself. In that case, just have the hand gun stored at the local sheriffs office and sign it out before you go hunting.
Hunting rifles are part of the American culture, and they are truly our last line of defense against any hostile force that would seek to invade America. That is how our founding fathers fought the British during the early parts of the Revolutionary War. Haven't you ever heard of "Minutemen"?

Well some people that own guns treat it like a religion as zealot as they get about it.
My only view is it is not a "God given" right like some say, and I am sick of all the propaganda on it.
That "gun Town" (Kennesaw, GA) where everyone has to own a gun is so misrepresented.
First everyone does not have to own a gun (read the law).
Second the law was instituted in 1981 no significant drop in crime happened until 1984 when the twon experience a housing and economic boom that brought many new people into the area making it the highest income area and highest resident education in the county. So it is only proof that education and fighting poverty reduces crime.

Anyone who wants to ban guns is an idiot. If someone was going to do something as low as murder, you think they'd care if they got the gun legally? And you can kill someone without a gun. And if you live in the USA, you are a complete moron because we are granted the right to bear arms, if that right can be taken away, so can freedom of speech, religion, privacy, etc.

i think of the united kingdom is lots from suitable on gun administration. there are various weapons getting by using on the black industry, and human beings have additionally been changing immitation firearms to totally working fashions. yet, i think that our gun controls are approximately real. i might like a greater suitable undercover police operation to intercept the unlawful weapons, and that i might like the police to function with in basic terms armed reaction units as they do at recent. It has fee us lives, and at present 2 unarmed uk computing gadget Ws have been gunned down in chilly blood, by potential of an armed maniac on the run. it somewhat is going to not have befell, because of the fact they sent the two computing gadget Ws right into a community that they knew the gunman could have been! I is argued that the two PCws might have had of project if that they were armed. yet they have been thoroughly bowled over! i elect gun administration to stay the comparable, yet i might elect to work out greater suitable techniques and administration of the themes we've. My own opinion is, that greater weapons look to show greater gun crime, as interior the tragic situations interior the U. S. at present. i don't think of it rather is a sturdy concept to make attack rifles and automated gadget pistols obtainable to the final public, until eventually they have a 'valid' artwork requirement, or consistent with threat 'registered' hunters. I beleive that gun possession could be capped or limited to single firing revolvers or magazine fed pistols, max calibre 9mm. Psychiatric and medical diagnosis additionally should be examined on proprietors of even small hearth palms. NO ex cons could be allowedto shop gun in any respect. i'm appaulled that the 'fireman shooter' had a criminal checklist, yet, it style of feels that he substitute into allowed to get carry of or very own a gun.

Anyone that thinks they should be taken away should be forced out of the country, and if they don't go, give them a face to barrel lessons on the workings of a gun.
Actually, there is a town near me where a law was passed that required all home owners to own a gun. The crime rate is non exsistant in the town and no place for a thief to go.

I think it's okay to have a gun/rifle.
Out here in the county nearly all my neighbors have rifles because they hunt or because here in Texas, if someone trespasses or breaks into our homes, we have the right to shoot them dead!
When i had our first child i was resting on the floor with her, we'd just moved in here and didn't know anyone and i saw my doorknob wiggle and someone in the window. When i ran to window to look out, i saw 3 men casing the house. My dog scared them off but they came back a week later, trying to get in again. This terrified me, i was all by myself with a new baby. My husband said it's time to get a shotgun, you don't need to aim with those and you can't miss your target! Alo and behold 3 weeks later 4 men pull into my driveway at dusk and attempt to break in, they were kicking my door and smashing the knob and casing windows, what do i do, just wait for them to enter and probably kill/rape me and my baby???? HELL NO, i get out the shotgun, hide my baby, wait for them to enter and shoot them SOB's. Fortunately, my pit bull scared them and an officer was quick to respond but when it comes down to your property and your family, you should defend them and if it means using a gun, then so be it.
Hence, this happened to me, my neighbors made it well known they had guns, cleaned them outside etc and no house has been robbed in this neighborhood for 2 years! My incident happened 2 1/2 years ago
