Actually, in many places it is. However, no one enforces the rule and people do it all the time.

One of those cases where I bet you wish you would have not mentioned it. If your in the city check with the Codes and Administration Department at your City and County building. Normally it is fine but there are some strange rules in places with Home Owners Groups etc. Just think what this neighbor would say about rural areas that still bury all their dead (including human) on their property. Your neighbor is the loser and you are fine. Sorry to hear you ever questioned such a beautiful and right thing to do. May your little dog have many more years. A little dog like that is such a superior creature when compared to your neighbor.

I agree with the majority.... I myself have a small pet cemetary which includes two golden retrievers, a chinchilla, a few cats, four or five hamsters and two spur thigh tortises.... just make sure you dig a deep enough hole (it sounds so sad) and keep quiet about it.... this usually works better if you don't have really close neighborhs (that would cause a stink about it)

If you have your own house and your own land, it is NOT illegal to bury your pets in your yard... BUT, if you live in an APARTMENT or any home with multiple dwellings where you RENT, you probably COULD be arrested if you dug up your landlord's yard....UNLESS of course you asked the landlord first...

It's only illegal if you get caught, besides someone else here said it, they never enforce that.
----Look I have buried plenty of pets in my yards in the past, I have yet to be arrested for it. There aren't too many places that have laws against it, only for human bodies.
