It isn't about "belief" it is about SCIENCE. Reputable scientific sources have determined that the climate is changing. Please see "An Inconvenient Truth" or read the UN's report on climate change.

Don't believe everything you hear from the global warming alarmists. They are the same people that told us 20 years ago that we were heading for another ice age. One fact that we never hear is that Mars' polar ice caps are melting at the same rate Earths are. I wounder if the sun just MIGHT have something to do with it! And what about the fact that a single volcano can spew more greenhouse gasses into the air during one eruption than the history of all humanity combined.

The larger question is why don't all those true believers act on their beliefs and live small to save the planet?
I don't believe we can ever know truly why the climate has changed since the earth formed, it could be the power of the sun, combined with shifting continents. For anyone to say they know why, is a tall tale.
Pollution as a cause is only a hypothesis and we must not change the world based on a hypothesis, too many lives are at stake.

q- quoting "An Inconvenient Truth" is like quoting "Star Wars"
It's Science Fiction.
Even the scientists IN it have refuted the way their facts were twisted to meet a political agenda.
Look... Global Warming is real. The climate is changing. It happens. It's happened throughout history and mankind's presence isn't going to stop the cycle.
Now, are WE affecting it?
No.
Hate to break it to those who would like to believe that man is ruining the Earth, but I can present a LOT more proof that we aren't than you can present that we are... since there IS no proof that we are.
Carbon in the atmosphere is likely not even close to 1% of the reason the climate is warming. Other factors, such as our position in our orbit around the sun, increased solar activity and fluctuations in our electromagnetic field are far more influential in the matter. Why isn't Al telling you about these?
He can't sell you anything to 'counter' those things.
See the truth. Don't buy the hype. Al Gore's a snake oil salesman... and it's becoming more and more apparent.

Climate change is a natural process, and it has happened many times before in the last 4.6 billion years.
Humans have been around for the relative blink of an eye, and we will not be around forever.

global warming, is occuring. humans are a big cause to this with cars, and polluting, etc. i can go on and on. although we are not all to blame. climate change is a natural thing but we sure are helping the climate to change. if i am wrong, even if we dont cause this, we should be more environmentally friendly, to save animals and our resources.

The climate is always changing, it's never constant. If it's not warming, it's cooling. There isn't anything unnatural about this.
Man just is too insignificant to cause any change to the climate. The Sun is the source for all of the Earths warmth.

I refuse to accept the junk science that claims the earth is warming and that this warming is directly caused by human activity. Throughout the history of our planet, there have been countless cycles of warming and cooling periods, nearly all of which occurred before the invention of the “evil” internal combustion engine, the industrial revolution, Haliburton or “Big Oil,” and. These warming and cooling cycles included periods of intense, nearly worldwide volcanic activity, massive forest fires and even the occasional ice age where glaciers over a mile thick covered the land where we live in Central Ohio. Yet we are continually bombarded with cries of “Global Warming.”
In his latest propaganda piece, Al "I am completely unhinged" Gore claims that the science debate on so-called global warming is over. That no credible scientists dispute that the Earth is warming dramatically and it is mostly due to the policies of the Bush Administration. Typical liberalism – never let the facts get in the way. According to the untainted evidence that has been collected and analyzed so far, that is hardly the case. To the contrary, most of the studies referenced by the anointed elites and expounded upon by the liberal media, upon further examination, have proven to be based on dubious scientific methods at best. Many well-qualified and credentialed scientists believe that the studies often quoted by the media are simply propaganda As a matter of fact, the scientific community is still actively engaged in debate about whether the earth is actually getting warmer, let alone that any global warming has been directly tied to human activity.
Keep in mind that this doomsday prophecy is coming from the same crowd of do-gooders that convinced many that second hand smoke is even more dangerous than smoking. My goodness, how can that be when the smoker is exposed to both first and second hand smoke? Using their logic of leftist “science,” it is safer to be a smoker than to live with one.
For the sake of discussion, let's assume that global warming is taking place. My question for the "Scientists" that claim human activity is responsible for climate change is, where is the data? CO2 is generally accepted as only 0.033% (330 parts per million) of the gases in the make up our air. The claim that CO2 levels are wildly increasing is meaningless until someone attaches a number and can describe the method used to derive that number, to the "increase." It seems to me that any global warming attributed to increased CO2 in the air would cause vegetation to thrive, due to increased growing seasons. Now let's see, if that's the case more vegetation would consume more CO2 and produce more oxygen. The "Scientists" that are reporting increases in vegetation are conspicuous by their absence. It sure seems safe to conclude that nature is more capable of maintaining a natural balance of the gases that comprise our atmosphere than our government, the United Nations or Al Gore.
It simply is not an accepted fact that the earth is heating up. Sure, some locations show higher average temperatures than 100 years ago. But others do not. Many of the locations that do show increases in average temperature are now located in major metropolitan areas, but were located on the outskirts of urban centers 100 years ago; cities have expanded to encompass them. It is well known that urban centers generate quite a bit of heat, which is added to the environmental temperature. When you have a location that, 100 years ago, was rural and undeveloped, but is currently in the middle of a large city, it is to be expected that temperatures will have increased at that location, due to nothing more than that urban heat effect. Interestingly, when you throw out locations such as this, there are at least as many locations where temperature have gone down over the last 100 years as where temperatures have gone up. So, no, it's not a proven and accepted fact that global warming is even occurring, let alone that human activity is causing it.
If human activity, in fact, has any significant impact on global temperatures, it's quite possibly for the better. Geologists have been claiming for decades that the earth is overdue for another ice age. If humans really are causing temperatures to rise, then maybe that is the only thing that has kept the ice age at bay. Actually, there is no reason to believe that slightly lower temperatures are somehow preferable to slightly higher temperatures - there is no known “optimal” global temperature, nor any known methods of adjusting some sort of planetary thermostat.
Then why all the hubbub, bub? I believe that the global warming doctrine has less to do with any climatic phenomenon that may or may not be taking place, than with the snake oil being peddled as the policy response to address the “issue.” Funny, the only proposed response we’ve heard from the blame and hate America first crowd, who are beating the drums the loudest, is a dramatic lowering of the American standard of living. In particular, placing extreme limits on private energy consumption. Unlike the socialists in Europe, who travel primarily via mass transit, we use cars and trucks and drive on the best network of highways anywhere in the world. They simply want us to give up our private vehicles and take the bus. What about the fact that many of our livelihoods are tied in some way to the manufacture of vehicles or their component parts? Do we constrict our economy; perhaps even give up our jobs in order to please Kofi Annan and his gang of thieves at the United Nations?
The global warming doctrine, at it’s most basic level, is simply anti-American. The liberal elites covet the jurisdiction of, and the regulation of all human activity that generates carbon dioxide; that pretty much means all human activity. Furthermore, enacting this dogma on a worldwide scale via international treaties that regulate what nations can, cannot, and must do, is simply a thinly veiled disguise to cover the establishment of a world wide socialist government in order to implement and enforce it. This is the ultimate, although unspoken goal of liberals everywhere. Perhaps that explains why the Europeans are so interested.
I sure wish somebody would tell Al Gore that he could single handedly slow down any so-called “global warming” simply by shutting his big mouth.

It's not about believing anymore because we have scientific proof its happening. Ocean temperature is changing and glaciers are melting. People only see the bad things that come with global warming, but there are also some good such as we will be able to fly or boat over the North Pole which will get us around the world faster.
