we just bought a house and we NEED a new set of pans, i have read that stainless is the best choice. i was wondering if anyone knows of what kind and where to buy a good set of these. i have no clue about what exactly i am looking for but i need it no higher then $150 for the set. we dont do anything exceptional with these just everyday cooking, so i just need a set with standard sizes. if you only know of a name please let me know so i can research that product, if you know of a name and price PLEASE let me know that so i can pick a set up soon.
thanks

I'm not a professional chef but I do a lot of everyday cooking. I have a stainless Cuisinart multiclad set that I paid $100 on a military base (might be a little more expensive outside the base). I see good sets at costco at times too.
I really like the set I have, it gets the job done without burning.

There are some good sets at Target. Best things to look for are heavy bottoms that are thick so heat can be evenly distributed and heavier steel riveted metal handles for durability. Can't remember the name right off. I know the set we use all the time has polycarbonate lids which are nice when something is boiling so it can be monitored. One has a vent built into the top. A good name brand set has several pieces that can be purchased seperately to add on as wanted.

I'm looking into buying a set myself. I think that the Farberware set is descient for everyday cooking. Thats what I'm planning to get.
the site below is showing different pans and compairing the prices.
the farberware set is set at $129
The Cuisinart set for $159 looks nice.

Theres a lot of new and fancy sets out there but I have used the same wonderful set of Revere Ware Stainless with copper bottoms for 45 years and they are still as good as the day I first got them.
