I have to go get some ammunition for deer season coming up in a couple weeks. I hunt with Winchester ammunition and I was wondering if anyone has used and likes the Super X 30-06 150 grain Power-Point? Has this ammo performed well for you? I am using the 168 grain Ballistic Silvertips now. Thanks.

I've used it and liked it. I took a long range shot at a 6X6 Elk last year with the SuperX 150 grain Power Point in 30-06..Folded him up like a lawn chair (Double Lunged) at 422 yards.I intend to keep on using these bullets.I dug the bullet out and it had expanded the size of a nickel.Works for me

Everyone will have different anecdotal experience on this and similar questions. Where I hunt, any 30cal 150gr load will suffice for the typically small new york whitetail, but I have found the 165/168s more consistently accurate in factory loads. My M700 .308 prefers remington core-lokt, but every gun has its own favourite.
I have heard wildly contradictory testimonials regarding the Silvertips, that they go right thru without expanding, or else they go to pieces; in my limited experience with them, they seem no better or worse than most standard bullet, but then you don't usually need expensive high-tech premium loads for deer. Go with whatever groups well and you'll be most confident in placing the shot just right.

Don't you think it's a little late to be changing loads? It's pretty presumptuous to think your rifle will like shooting the new load.
My little brother used to use the 150 grain load you're contemplating, but now he swears by 165 grain Nosler Partitions. It took me quite a few trips to the range to work up the load, though.

I prefer the 180 grain myself.*
