i think there is nothing wrong w/ getting a tattoo, but let me give you some tips
A. never get someone else's name or intials unless it's a remembrence one
B. Think it over very carefully, think would you still like it in 20 or 30 years and how would it look on your body when your 80.
C. And make sure you get it in a place where you can show it off, but hide it too (w/o having to wear long sleeves all the time) b/c you also have to think that most employers do not want tattoos to show when you work for them
I'm getting one in January (the only date I could get after my birthday last week), but I've been thinking since I was about 13 and trust me, I have changed my mind several times and I'm 18. I think you should wait til your at least 15 or 16 because you might change your mind a hundred times, but if you know you're not going to change you're mind, then take a design of what you want into a tattoo artist, tell them where you want it, and then ask their opnion, because they have done so many tattoos that they can tell you what will work for your body size and where you're getting it

Thirteen is pretty young to make a decision like that and I think you really know that or you wouldn't be asking the question here. Since you are only 13, don't you think that that is a choice that should be made when you are older? Things and people that you like now, will undoubtably change drastically between now and when you become an adult. A tattoo is a relatively permanent decision and if you don't like it later, you have to come up with some big bucks to get a plastic surgeon to remove it. That is not only painful but also expensive, and scarring is always a possibility. Although tattoos are becoming more mainstream, it definately says something about who you are, and other people will make assumptions about you based on what they see. Those assumptions may state what you are today, but think carefully about whether you want the same thought about you when you are in college, a new mother and the mother of a teenager your age, someday.

I got m y first tattoo when I was 16. so no you are not a bad person for getting a tattoo at a young age. Make sure that your fist one can always get covered, cause once you get it it's there for life. I am 17 and now have 4 tattoos. I can't wait to get another one.

Getting a tattoo doesn't mean you are a bad person and people who think that's what they mean are not very intelligent.
If your mom thinks it's okay for you to get one and you want one, then I don't think age has much to do with it.
The only things I would advise you on are to think about where you want the tattoo and what kind of image you want permanently drawn on your body. Do you want one that everybody can see almost all the time? Or do you want to be able to cover it up when you don't want people to see it?
I have many friends (girls) with tattoos. Most of them have them in places where you can really only see them when they are in their bathing suits. Some of these women are business professionals and it might give off the wrong impression to clients and such if they had highly visible tattoos.
Good luck.

If your mom says it's ok than fine. But if I were you I would wait until you are older....at least 21. I read one study that said after 1 year up to 80% of women that got tatoos regreted it. I'm not sure if that is true. But you are 13. At your age your likes and dislikes change like the wind. Once you get a tatoo it's painful to get rid of.

just remember that it is permanent and what you get now you may not like on your body when you are older. i work with several woman that got them when they were 18 and have had other tats done over top of the old ones because they felt they were inappropriate and now the tats are distorted. I too have played around with the idea, still don't have one, cause I've changed my mind on the design about half a dozen times. be sure it's something you really want and can live with for a life time.

I really think it is up to you, but are you going to be happy for the rest of your life with a tattoo you chose when you were 13?
If you must think small and discreet. I would also advise you to choose one and see if you still like it in a few months time.

I think you need to read the Bible. It tell you right in there about tattoo. If you are a Godly person, you wouldn't get one. You shouldn't put makrings on your temple, your temple is God. This is why children can't make decissions for themselves at the age of 13. They really don't know what to do. Do me a favor, waite untill your 18 to get one if you still want one. They scar your body, and if you really don't know what to do, then you shouldn't get one until you know forsure that you really want to scar your body (God'sTemple). I will pray for you. God Bless.
Good Luck if you do get one.

I was actualy 13 when i got my first tattoo. if you decide and get one make shure it's not something your going to regret. And ask your mom if she likes it too. when i went for mine, my mother came with me and got the same thing and place as me. It was like a mother daughter thing, It ment alot to me. now i live on my own in the big city, and my mother is back in my home town. When i look at my tattoo, it makes me think of her and how much i miss her. so i think your first tatoo should always be something special and that means something to you.

If you want to get one and your mom is letting you get one, there is nothing wrong with that. Make sure the want you choose is really nice and goes with you, maybe get a small one now and a bigger one once you get older.
