you do not have a title to a gun, in Texas you can sell or give the gun to another, it is your choice.

If you are not a FFL dealer you are not required to do a background check on anyone.

The government does not know you own the gun, they do not keep the records from when you purchased it.

Did you get a title???
Nope...

If it works like in Arkansas then just sell the thing already......

One of the main reasons that there are so many gun shows around is the fact that sales from Private individuals to each other do not require registrations...
But purchases from gun dealers do...

you could go thru a liscensed dealer or just call the local sheriffs office In alot of states they have a simple no cost form you fill out and return to the sheriff and the firearm is transferred.

Try calling a local gun shop. I don't know TX law but I would guess that it is going to have to be done through a person with a FFL. (Federal Firearms License)

Guns con't have "titles" like cars or real estate, there is nothing to transfer. And it takes more than a serial number to tie you to a crime. That being said, if you are not sure about the buyer, don't sell it to him.

Absent any laws to the contrary, hand-write a bill of sale.
