I have been dating this guy for a while and something just doesnt add up about him. He's Italian, not saying all Italians are in the Mafia, and he told me that he used to be in the Mafia not too long ago. He claims to have a job but he doesnt ever talk to me about it and there are suspicious things like he doesnt have an office, never goes in to work, always have late business meetings, uses a nickname and only goes to pick up money from "clients" which is always lots of cash. If Im correct if it is a legitimate business people get paid with company checks not cash especially large sums of it. I told him that I couldnt be with him if thats what he did and he got mad and told me that I will never leave him and that I should trust him. Are those good signs or what are good signs of someone who is in the mafia?

I don't think there are "GOOD" signs of being in the mafia.He may not be in the mafia,that's a little extreme,but completely possible.He may just be doing something illegal , that he doesn't want you to know about.Either way he's keeping things from and that is not a good sign of a healthy relationship.And if he told you you'll never leave him,then it sounds as if he has a potential to be violent,you should get out regardless.

Rule No. 1 - If he USED to be in the Mafia... he STILL IS in the Mafia. You CANNOT leave it. The only way out is death.
And yes, all the other signs add up to him being in the mafia. Watch Sopranos. If you dont want that life, get out while you can. After a while, you wont be able to leave without danger.

Oh yeah that guy is definately in the mafia, drop the subject though. Find a way for him to dump you, that way he won't want to see you, and you can move on. Possibly he likes you thinking that so he always cashes his checks before showing you the money, and its always the same money that you see all the time.

I must say he really really sounds like hes in the mafia or maybe he just is which is what i think. Him saying that you will never leave him is true unfortunately. Well maybe if he knows where you, your family, friends live and everything there is to know about you. Be very carefull, my dear.

i am italian and i could at least say about my italian race those men are full of shi+. everybody wants to say they are in the mafia. if italian man tells you he is in the mafia then he is dead wrong. the mafia would go to him and already told him to SHUT his MOUTH!. you can never trust anyone especially mob people because they kill their own families for a profit

heck..if he said he was in the mafia then that meens that hes still in it....once your in the Mafia you cant get out unless thy kill you.
if i was you id go to the cops and run a search on hes back ground and see how big his rap sheet is.

If he was in the mob, I don't know why he would tell you he 'use' to be. You just don't 'use' to be in the mob. You can retire from the mob, but there's no 'use' to be. Either he is not telling you something. He may be in the mob. But if he use to, he could also bea 'turncoat' or working with the feds. But he may still be in, never know. I don't know him, so its hard to say.
