Atheism is not an organization. That's not like despotism (communism, fascism) where the dictators Personality cult replace Gods cult. Atheism means reconsider the Man like the main subject and doesn't make republic, or anyone else, a religion.
Everybody in the World can be an athee when he becomes septic about his believes. Any prophets or gods or angels doesn't give us the revelation of septicism. The Good Spell comes from popular wisdom and philosophies erudies : in fact from the Mans (and Womans, eg : Olympe de Gouges).
In a Court, for exemple, a christian will promise on a Bible, a jew on Talmud or Thora... But an athee has no book to promise on. It remains them their human honor.

Secularism is a word that we love in France because it means that if there is a god, why not, all human purposes are a matter for the Men, the Democraty, the power of the majority of individuals (souls?)...

To conclude, even if christianism is the less worst religion (free will, love message, charity) and islam the real worst (obscurantism, women regression, food prohibitions, temporal power and law, jihad...), the religions will be one day in front of Men law. It's a matter of legitimacy. Who will have the last talk. Power of God or power of Men choices? (islamic veil in school, separated menu for each religion, each holy day of rest...)

WELL, I am a religious person who believes in God, but I never judge anyone for the way they think, talk or walk or what they believe in. People have the right to be who they are and do what they want and as long as it is legally and morally correct I really don't mind. The reason I say that as long as it is legally and morally correct I really don't mind it is bevause if people do something to hurt someone intentionally I will not have it, I will stand up for someone who is being hurt and disrespected. I have gotten into fights, well not physical but words and trouble for not taking crap for people and not letting anyone hit or hurt a person who doesn't know how to stand up for themselves. If you have your beliefs, stand up for them, stand up for yourself! I wish everyone believed in God, but FREE WILL is a big thing with me!

There's a podcast produced by the Atheist Community of Austin (TX) that's entitled, "Non-Prophets Radio."

It's 90 minutes every 2 weeks, if anyone is interested. You can find it on iTunes.

Isn't Carl Sagan a famous prophet of antitheism?
