There is no need to be afraid! I have gone through this though. :-]
I realized that Jesus died for our sins, so we don't have to live with the fear and anxiety or wondering and worrying about what will happen when we die. God forgives us, He casts our sins as far as the east is from the west (casting crowns song) :-] If you confess your sins with an open heart and believe in God and pray to Him, he will forgive you! He loves you so much.

Why be afraid of God if there is one? If there truly is a God and he created us flawed (somehow a perfect being making something flawed is funny itself) and then supposedly gave us free will and then we have to be perfect like him or he will punish us forever. Does that even make logical sense? Oh, and I forgot he is a loving God like a parent. Stop me anytime logic creeps into this.
If there is a God, he is not the war God depicted in the Bible. The Bible was written (or at least the old testament) during a period in human history where Gods were big and mean and had tempers, etc. That is why God is depicted as destroying cities, etc in the Old Testament. It was a trend in Gods throughout that period in human history. If there is a higher being that created everything, then you must assume that he would be all logical and not have fits of emotion (like flooding the earth, etc). So if there is one, then he would have to assume that you attempted to live your life to the best of your ability, of which you could not be faulted at that. Meaning that you respected others and treated as you would want to be treated, not running around killing others, etc. You follow common sense and if there is a God you should be fine. Do not be afraid, as do you truly think that a God would create people only to hope that they are afraid? A logical being would never do that.
My person opinion is there is no God, no heaven, no nothing. It is not what everyone wants to believe since it is scary that when we die there is nothing else. So God is that security blanket for adults, that invisible friend that allows adults and all humans to have a better time accepting death. The unfortunate thing about that is that it also means we turn our heads the other way and not really think about it when someone dies or is killed, that there truly may be nothing more than just the grave.

The best thing for you to do is open your Bible, and read the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They will tell you all about Jesus, and who He is, and why He died, and what that did for us. He died for ALL of us.
Beloved, if you are afraid, then you must really believe He exists! You should fear the Lord. The Bible tells us to "Fear the one who can hurt your body and your soul" God loves you, and died for you. You are 1/2 way there. Keep asking questions, start reading the Bible, go to a good, Bible based church in which Jesus is the Head. Talk to some Christians, and get into a Bible study group. (not hard to do, since they will probably ask you to come) I'm sure you will be welcomed with open arms. I'll pray for you, so you may come to know the Lord. You can pray, also. Just ask God to lead you into the truth, and guide you in knowlege of Him. God Bless!!!

Why don't you try thinking cleary about why you believe God has a 50/50 shot at existing? Try to look at it as dispassionatly as you can so you don't scare yourself.
Then you'll either decide that God's chance of existing is a lot higher or a lot lower than 50/50. I think it's the fence-sitting you find so unsettling.

Well you are right when it comes to living clean. If you don't live clean, by your own actions, you will be spirtually dead (go to hell). But if you live clean you will be spiritually alive (live in heaven eternally).
God isn't what you're thinking. This is a good bible verse for you: Psalm 30:5- For His anger lasts only a moment but His favor lasts a life time. He isn't the kind of God you think he is. If you look at the whole book of Psalms it talks about how He is your Rock and your refuge, your ever present help in trouble. Psalm 27:1- The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid.
Just to let you know, the devil is roaming around like a roaring lion seeking for someone to devour. Have strength in the Lord

Is God dealing with your heart about salvation? I read your other question but didn't quite know how to answer it. It seems to me that you want to believe and you want to be saved, but the devil is putting doubts and fears in your way. You need to talk to someone on a personal level. God is an awesome God and the God of all comfort. I would not want to be without Him. Everything you have and everything that you are able to do, breathe, walk, talk, etc. is because He allows it. He loves you and He wants to help you. If you are not a born again christian maybe that's why you are feeling the way you are. If you are saved and you're having these feelings, you need to pray and talk to someone. I hope you find what you need. Much love in Christ.

If you fear God then you are aware of his existence. The best thing you can do is realise that he loves you and wants to communicate with you and show you the way forward.
I can recommend a passage from the Bible:
(James 1:5) If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
If you pray in sincerity to have doors open to find your faith you will receive an answer. The Lord will guide you.
Also consider this passage from the Book of Mormon:
(Moroni 10:4)And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Leave it to God, a situation similar to this Is what I used to be tormented by. I just started really praying hard and asking God to show me what to do. Then I also started really reading my bible and taking notes, talking to God, asking him to give me answers. Try this, Its actually amazing because you start seeing how great God works when a situation you've been struggling with suddenly becomes a topic at the next sermon at your church. Or you randomly open your bible and there's a verse staring you in the face, answering a question you've been wondering the answer to.

Jesus already paid the penalty for all your sins and the whole world...you have nothing to fear when you die if you believe in Him. We will no longer have a sinful spirit when we get to heaven. The fear of God here on earth is a good thing...it keeps you from doing wrong but if you do...and we all sin from time to time.....you can know that your sins are forgiven as long as you repent and believe in Jesus as your Savior.

The first thing you need to understand is that God loves you. That is what He is. A Spirit of love. The bible says all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. God wants you to depend on Him for your salvation. It is not something you can earn. It has already been provided when Jesus died on the cross for us. When we sin we repent in our hearts, ask God for forgiveness. The fear of God means 'reverential awe'. We are in awe of His unconditional love. He told Peter to forgive 70 times 7 times a day if necessary. That is what He is willing to do for us. As we begin to draw close to Him we find we do not sin as much and our love relationship with Him begins to grow and a result our love for others begins to grow also. We begin to grow spiritual fruit in us(love - joy - peace - patience - kindness - goodness - gentleness - faith - self control) That is what God wants.
