No.
It won't be a Hollywood style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.
Most scientists say, in 20-50 years. But we need to start right now to fix it, fixing it will take even longer than that.

Yeah, it will be gradual all right. It will take thousands of years. Some cities such as parts of New Orleans, are already under sea level. Being underwater only means the dikes failed. By 2012, the ocean level should rise a fraction of an inch. Do you think a tiny fraction of an inch is going to be a noticable difference? I sure hope not.

Tabasco in Mexico is under water right now due to super evaporation of the forests .
but this is from rain not rising seas levels ,and the water is up to the roofs of over a million people
who have lost their crops and live stock.
crocodiles ,which are abundant in that area are roaming the wide expanse of water scavenging dead animals.
About the seas it is as with knowledge at first it accumulates slow and then goes faster and faster with time ,
this will happen to the sea as well at first the rise will not be noticeable but it will speed up with time ,
the same with the heat ,the moment the North pole is completely gone the increase in temperature will be fast
it is this speed factor which is difficult to calculate it is unknown
And the biggest problem is not the rising water ,we will see it coming a long way off ,but what happens to the displaced people ,
where will they go ?
other places already have people ,
civil unrest will develop and governments ,who are impotent to fix things ,will collapse.
which one you only have to look at a map
suffice it to say that most of human settlements are on the waters edges of the seas and rivers

there will be a total of '0' cities underwater in 4 years. that is the most ridiculous thing that has ever been said.

Another alarmist?
None.
Period.
Tell Al Gore to peddle his science fiction to the ignorant masses because the intellectually keen aren't buying.
Even the scientists he quoted in that debacle of a disaster film stated that he exaggerated and that such rises in sea level would require warming to continue for a millennium.
1000 years
not 5
little difference there...

OK. First of all, NO ONE on earth can know this for sure, especially something as specific as exactly "which ones." But I believe that all this nonsense about 20-foot sea level rise is, just that! NONSENSE!! At the current rate of warming (about one degree per century) it's hard to see ANY cities below water by 2500, let alone by 2012.

No. The water might be a couple of inches higher by then, but that won't do much. Or not. In 5 years we all might be laughing at how stupid we were in 2007 to believe all the GW alarmists at the time.

I don't think any coastal city will be underwater by 2012 but I think we are in denial about judging how fast global warming is affecting the environment.

A lot of them in the Netherlands... but this has been the case for centuries !!!! The same is valid for Venice (or partly)
Dutch hydrologist can probably help to save the cities which joined the club on a non voluntary basis
