There's something very odd - not to mention sad - about someone choosing to die for a completely pointless belief.

The power of brainwashing over an otherwise sane individual.

If the rest of us tried this, our relations would have us sectioned under the Mental Health Act and then properly treated.

I don't know but this was a sad story.

Religion DOES brainwash people. Parents who bring up their kids in a certain religion brainwash them.

The woman was extremly selfish to put her beliefs before her children. Now here children don't have their mother. If she would have loved her children she would have taken the blood. She would have risked an afterlife in 'hell' for her kids. She was selfish. She was so scared of sinning that she did this. Who knows how the kids will turn out without their mother. It will leave a huge empty void in their lives. Hopefully they will realise her mistake and not be religious at all.

I think the reason why many people are religous is because they are scared of death. They are scared of the unkown. The sooner people realise there is no afterlife the better their life will be.

Learn about the One, Sheesh, get a grip on your life. Please, show me where did YHWH say "you will have the eternal death sentence for taking in blood"? Since you say you can't go against what God says not to do or your life is "worthless" than I am believing you did NOT BREAK ANY OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. Well, you are the second one (1st. Jesus), that is made PERFECT. How nice of you to put yourself above every other living person on this earth.

EDIT: So is coveting, fornication, adultery (even only in the mind), lies, stealing, and on and on and on. Everyone falls short of God no matter what. What do you look at Christ Jesus for? Did Christ Jesus suffer brutally and died for YOU so you can turn around and KILL (murder actually) your CHILD??? If you take one sin to give you permission to KILL someone else, then ALL SINS must give you the right to KILL your OWN CHILD because you don't look at CHRIST JESUS as your REDEEMER!!! HYPOCRITES ONE AND ALL!!!

I don't know why accepting a life-saving blood transfusion is forbidden. I think it was the young mother herself that made the decision.
I thought medical people could over-ride such decisions when a life was in danger.

If it was just affecting her, then this young woman should be allowed to take her own life by refusing such treatment.

But it wasn't. Her selfishness means that her twins will grow up without a mother - they have to live knowing that their mother put some half-baked beliefs before their welfare.

It's sad how such sects can brainwash the vulnerable into killing themselves, just when it is most important that they live.

Sorry but this is pure brainwashing drivel and to think that somebody died because of a man made belief and not a Divine Commandment is utteraly appaling. 2 little babies and a husband are not left to pick up the peices of this arrogant nonsense. That is what it is, nothing more and nothing less.

You are not the 'chosen people' you are not among the 144,000 elite who will rule with God in the new world, that is arrogance gone daft.

Sin is NOT doing something wrong, that is how we learn, we all make mistakes and learn from them, that is a natural process, but original sin is ignorance of your own spiritual nature, your Oneness with God. That my dear is sin. God does not judge you, nor will He, God knows nothing but Love, he is Love and I use the word He, because Jesus called him Father, the reason he had a personal relationship with him, he was Christed, or Self Realised as some other's may call it. God, the Creator of all realms,. worlds, universes see's none of these things that we call sin. The J.W have changed texts to make thier doctrine fit their theory, for that is all it is. A belief is not gospel truth and can and is changed regualrly when one has accumulated more knowledge, therefore to die for a belief is not something to be proud of. You have wasted the precious gift of Life.

..."first", it's not a "religion" recognized by God... it's a Cult. Second, "they" follow the rants and insane teachings of their handlers in Brooklyn, NY... "they" have skewed Gods Word to fit their agenda... "they" don't recognize the Sovereign government of the United States either BUT are always eager to live in this Country that tolerates their cultish behavior... They have no promise of Salvation and believe they are saved by works... completely against Scripture...They have their own "exclusive" translation of what they believe is the bible...actually a "book" developed by Brooklyn, NY...they have wrongfully predicted the end of the World many times and some of their dogma and traditions rival the hokus-pokus of David Copperfield..... but that's what they've boiled up for themselves... hellish stew...

WTF do you care?
Individuals choosing to abide by their personal chosen beliefs.
Even without religious practices anyone can wave life saving procedures if they wish to. Do not sustain by artificial means is one often used by individuals not wanting to be placed on life support machines.
Get off the soap box! The legal system does step in when the child's life is in danger.

Death is unnatural, and saddens every reasonable person. It seems crass, however, to turn a tragic death into a platform for one's opinionated rantings.

This tragedy occurred nearly two weeks ago, on October 25, 2007. Despite what pro-blood activists and anti-Witness critics might pretend, her doctors informed the family that Mrs. Gough would have died even if she had received blood transfusions.

Still, it seems obvious that Emma Gough was a woman of strong faith and godly devotion, who was strongly influenced by the teachings of the bible and of the Christ (see Acts 15:20,28,29).

(Acts 15:20,28,29) Write them to abstain from things polluted by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood. ...For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to you, except these necessary things, to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood

Jesus never taught that one's life (or another's) was more important than one's integrity and obedience to God. What do the Scriptures teach about the relative importance of integrity and the earthly life a human might now cherish?

(Matthew 10:28) And do not become fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be in fear of him that can destroy both soul and body

(Matthew 16:25) For whoever wants to save his soul will lose it; but whoever loses his soul for my sake will find it.

(Luke 12:4,5) Do not fear those who kill the body and after this are not able to do anything more. But I will indicate to you whom to fear: Fear him who after killing has authority to throw into [the grave without hope of resurrection]

(Luke 17:33) Whoever seeks to keep his soul safe for himself will lose it, but whoever loses it will preserve it alive.

(Revelation 12:11) And they conquered ...because of the word of their witnessing, and they did not love their souls even in the face of death.

a Man may write, but not all that is written is true.
I believe this Woman was mislead by her Belief and died for it.
Man. Jesus said that their would be many people who claimed to be Christs of God and will fool many, Their are many Christian denominations, but not all of them is truth, but lies, just as jesus said. many will be fooled and die for it. and just because it is a Christian denomination does not mean satan is not involved with the misleading of these denominations as the disciples said Satan can even come about as a angel of light or a sign of light
