Some PDF files are created with security features that prevent others from copying. You should make sure it is not copyrighted.

Adobe Acrobat 7.0

From the Basic toolbar, select the Select Tool
Select the desired text, table, or image
Copying Selected Text, Table, or Image
From the Edit menu, select Copy
OR
Press [Ctrl] + [C]
Open the document you want to paste the text, table, or image in
From the Edit menu, select Paste
OR
Press [Ctrl] + [V]

To copy text, make sure you are using the text selection tool. Depending on your version of Adobe Reader, it is usually an A followed by a Cursor Icon on the top toolbar. Use this to select the paragraph. Then use Ctrl+C to copy the text and then paste it in to word.

Additionally, if you are just trying to print out a chunk of the PDF, you could just specify a page range by clicking on the printer icon on the top left of the document, and defining the custom page range.

Good luck and happy printing.

Most likely your pdf was created with protection on which does not allow your to cut and paste text from it.

If you just want to print a portion out to save paper, you can select the pages such as pages 3 - 5 to print pages 3, 4 and 5.

Depends on how the PDF document was made. There is a feature with PDF that allows the creator to lock a file so that it can not be copied. (Protects their copyright of the material).

If the file is not locked, you should be able to get the text using the "Select Text" tool.

In Acrobat Reader, click on the Help Tab and look for: Copy text

TIP: If the text is contiguous, select it, and use "Print Selection" in the Print Dialog Box.

First offf, make sure that it is not just Adobe Reader. If it is, you have to contact IT again and have Adobe Writer installed. If you do have Adobe Writer, I have Adobe 8 Professional on my computer. In the printers list is Adobe PDF. That is similar to Adobe Distiller in older versions. Set your printer to that device and that will generate the PDF.

Use the "Select Text" tool located next to the "Grab" tool (it is a hand).
