No Peter had the Revelation of Jesus Christ that we find in Matthew. Peter understood that the name of Jesus was the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus as God and the Father:

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Jesus is the Son

Matthew 27:54
Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

Jesus is the Holy Ghost
John 14:16-18 & 20-21 & 23 & 26
16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

20At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

23Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Are you saying because Jesus said they should be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and Peter baptized them in the name of Jesus and not the alleged Trinity he was contradicting Jesus?

I see two possibilities:
1. It would not be the first time mortal man had not followed the instructions of G-D to the letter. Besides the original sin, other cases included when Melchizedek in Genesis 14, after receiving the tithe from Abram (not yet renamed Abraham) blessed Abram first and not G-D. Story has it Melchizedek was to have been the father of the Jews, but he blessed man before G-D.

Moses when told to talk to the rock so as to get the people to believe in the power of the rock, instead tapped it, and was thus denied entrance into the Holy Land.

So, it has happened before that man did not follow to the letter G-D's instruction,. but there is another possibility.

When Jesus told the Apostles to do it in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, all 3 stages of G-D existed. G-D still walked amongst us as man, albeit the Resurrected One, G-D was still in the Heavens as always, and the Holy Spirit had yet to arrive as it did not dwell in man until Jesus rose to Heaven.
But, Peter knew the greatest commandment was the Sh'ma--that G-D is One, not a Trinity. He was a Jew who had come to see prophesies fulfilled. He knew, now that Jesus had risen, Father and Son were One and the Same, for the servant David as prophesied had ceased to be.
The Spirit was to be seen only by those who did come to Believe, and that Spirit had already come to dwell in the Believers. So, to believe in Jesus with all one's heart was to believe in the Father and to receive the indwelling of the Spirit because there is no actual trinity as in 3 entities--if there is/was, then both Jesus and G-D would be liars, and there is no way they are, when they each said that the greatest commandment was accepting there to be only one G-D.

Acts 2:38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

I don't see a contradiction here.....I see the great comission and Peter's sermon on Pentecost

The supposed contradiction is that Jesus said to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but Peter only mentions Jesus.

Just because Peter only mentioned Jesus does not mean that he did not baptize in the name of all three when he actually did it. Jesus is the main one for the redemption of sins, so that is quite likely why he only mentioned Jesus at this point.

How is this a contradiction, Jesus is not specifically telling Him to baptize each and everyone of them himself, Jesus is teaching them to teach that all should Repent and be baptized in The Holy Spirit, that is what Peter was to do, no contradiction, people need to quit finding contradictions in the Bible , they won't find any.

What exactly is supposed to be the contradiction b/c I don't see any, they both say the same thing. Maybe you should clarify the question so that you can get the appropriate answer. God Bless

If you read it, you would realize there is no contradiction.
Jesus said to go baptize people, that's what Peter was doing.
