I'm currently working on my MPA because I've always wanted to work in government. Now I'm rethinking it due to the problems in the state I live in and I would like to know if there are any other industries that might like to see these letters on my resume.

You could look for a policy job with a research institute or other NPO, including trade and or commerce organizations (for instance the Chamber of Commerce on one side and a union on the other side). Your education is very transferrable to the private non-profit sector and also some aspects of the healthcare sector. I would add any classes in those areas in your final semester to make yourself more marketable.

Check www.idealist.org and look for different types of jobs in those areas and their education requirements.

It's a master's degree, right!
Be positiver. you're earning a postgrad degree.
That's master's in Public Administration, right? Look for a co which does a lot of business with governments. all the way from your local school district right up to the federal govt.

Everybody thinks of co's like Boeing, which sells jets and rockets to the Military, but it also includes the local dairy whichells milk to the local elementary school.
Don't forget the brokerage houses which deal in municipal bonds. you will only be limited by your imagination.
Good luck.
