Unfortunately my new place has green carpet. I'm renting from a friend and can not recarpet as he is attached to the color. The furniture/bedding colors are predominantly tan and black in my room. So basically I'm looking for something that will go well with these three colors for my walls. I'm not opposed to wall paper, in fact it seems like it may be easier.. I'd like something that stands out, but isn't too bold. Any ideas? Also, extra credit if you can tell me where I look for examples. :)

Go to Sherwin Williams and buy their paint fan. It's only 10 bucks. Then, using the fan to find a tan color that is a couple of shades lighter than your furniture and use that. Remember that paint is always darker and brighter on the walls. If you prefer green or gray, then use the paint fan the same way. The top two colors on the paint strips will probably be the best colors for your bedroom, and make sure you purchase the Super Paint in eggshell. Don't buy Durations. It's runny and messy, and I just hate it. Two colors that come to mind for your room are Windowpane and Bagel. Everyone has their own tastes, though, which is why I recommend the fan.

Also, go to sherwin-williams.com and you can design your room on right on their website. It's free.

"coastal plain" by Sherwin Williams. It's a lovely light gray-green that will look good with green/tan/black scheme that you already have.
