You can drive either sided car.
There are many US cars over here in the UK and have no problems i drove around France in my old R32 and had no problems. As for overtaking i just went in to the kerb more when by myself and i could easily see in front of the car etc in front and at the end of the day how many tractors do you get stuck behind in some areas..

I guess yo have never tried to pass slow traffic on a mountain road having to get your car all the way out in traffic before you can see around that tractor trailer rig. At least your passenger will start screaming. It is a very uncomfortable thing to do. Skyline GTR and other Japan Specification cars will not need smog or safety equipment USA requires. And some are very hard to find because there weren't many made in the first place.

I don't think it's technically against the law here, but a right hand ride poses a lot f problems. First, people passing by may think the car's driver has abandoned it and it is out of control on its own. Also, the only vehicle licensed to drive right-sided is our post office mail trucks -- mailboxes are easier for them to reach. Then there's the penchant of a Brit driver to end up in the wrong lane, and/or going the wrong way on a highway. Very dangerous. The police would be called in on THAT one. So ask yourself is it really WORTH it....
