it is mutiport injection, mot a carburetor, not throttle body injected. get it scanned for codes. i have seen alot of those do that when the upstream oxygen sensor gets old and lazy. it will not always set a code, but it will blow black smoke out the tailpipe because it is running so rich.

93 doesn't have a carburetor on it they have a throttle body fuel injection unit, you might want to have it scanned to see if there are any trouble codes on it,you might also want to get a compression check done on it,this will tell if it has a blown head gasket or not,the scan may tell you if it has any bad sensors that will cause this to happen, good luck with it.

It has a temp sending unit for the gage and a temp unit for the engine controler. The one for the controler is out of whack. Get it replaced.
