i had what doctors said was viral for weeks but now i am left with muscle twitches pain in arms and numbness in hands and feet especially right side.now im getting the twitches in my fingers.and a head jerk from my neck and back of head.my knees would twitch of nowhere and now i find my whole arm or hand would do the same.im very unsteady on my legs especially on one side.when i move my fingers on the right side the finger beside my small one moves right into the left unnaturally.i had mri today and woman said she saw noting to get her attention yet but i have to wait on results.i heard mri cant detect asl i also get tingling fling all over my body.this coud be al from beng anxious but i just dont know.

There are numerous neuromuscular issues which could be considered, and it may also be none of these. I would suspect, but you did not report they ruled out GBS as this would be much more likely given the history you described.

An MRI is one of the diagnostic test used for ALS. a nerve biopsy would give the most confirming diagnosis, but EMGs and other test are coupled with the examination history and MRI to make the diagnosis.

Normally, the person performing the MRI does not note ALS it would be a neurologic radiologist if possile who would give the best reading.

I had similar symptoms, had weeks of testing and biopsies all performed by the specialists at the Mayo Clinic in the US and they still have not made a sure diagnosis. We have a reasonable idea, but nothing is confirmed even after weeks of tests.

stop being anxious,go and find a funny film to take your mind off things and stop fearing-that's the only thing wrong ,you're letting your fear get the better of you.It's ok,really. xx p s...i don't know what asl is,though perhaps it's better if we don't? :)
