I was all excited to go to confession this afternoon, had done a thorough examination of conscience, spent time thinking about my sins, wrote them down. I started listing them and he asked if I could be more in depth so I did and I told him my boyfriend and I were waiting to have sex until we were married but that we participated in sexual foreplay. He asked if I was going to stop that and I said "probably not" and he goes "then you need to go home". I said "what?" he said "leave. and don't come back unless you're actually sorry." I told him I had more sins to confess and I really needed to confess them and he goes "goodbye". I'm so hurt :( Not sure what God is trying to teach me out of this experience

That wasn't even the sin I was confessing. I had confessed that I made some digs at my boyfriend about his sexual past, that is what I was sorry for. And the priest asked me if I was messing around with him!

At least I'm trying...I know God honors that. And even though I got sent home by a fuddy duddy old wack job of a priest that I still am getting special graces from God for having the courage to go in the first place :) I guess I'll just have to pray a little harder for the grace to stop doin what I've been doin.

Your priest is a jerk.

Foreplay is not sex, and he should be applauding you for giving an honest answer.

You can't make a good confession unless you repent of ALL your sins. The priest found out through some questioning that you and your boyfriends are indulging in sexual activity (sexual foreplay is sexual, obviously!). You apparently are unwilling to confess that sin, so the priest cannot give you absolution because you aren't making a good confession.

What God (and the priest) are trying to teach you is that sex = sex. Sexual foreplay is a form of sex. Sexual foreplay with your boyfriend is the "near occasion to sin" in sex before marriage.

Don't confess your sins to man. Instead confess them to God. I think God is saying that you need to truly repent. That means turn from sin and turn to God. If you are not willing to leave your sin then you are not truely repentive. Jesus said that unless you repent you WILL perish.

Read the Bible and stop sinning.

forget about going to confession, talk to God yourself, that priest doesn't have a heaven or hell to put you in. I've never believed in confessing sins to a person anyway.

Why confess sexual foreplay unless you are going to stop?

Also, the priest is just a man listening to all your deepest secrets. Wouldn't you rather go straight to God through Jesus Christ?

Since Jesus rose from the dead the curtain was ripped into, now we can go to God in prayer , in Jesus name. We don't have to have a go between. Priests as the Catholics have , are not in the bible.

If your not going to stop something then you obviously don;t think it is wrong and aren't sorry for it.

He is right you don;t go to confession unless you are actually sorry for something, if not you are making a mockery of it.

If you confess a sin but then readily admit that you are going to commit that sin again anyways, does that mean you are really "sorry". Confessing sins is not just admitting that you have sinned but recognizing that the "sin" was wrong and have a honest desire to not commit that sin again and live by God's standard.

He is teaching you to talk to him and not a priest. Jesus wants to be your best friend and wants you to confess your sins to him. The Lord is your Shepherd. 23 Psalm. By the way that psalm is for LIVING people not dead people. :)
the Lord is your Shepherd.
He loves you.

He has no authority with God anyway.

Catholicism teaches a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).
