How do you deal with bed wetting? I have a son who is 7 and we tried everthing to get him to stop wetting the bed, no drinks 2 hours prior to be time, we tried getting up in the middle of the night, we tried the matress protector, and now have resorted to diapers at night. I am only home for 2 hours a night prior to bed time, we we need to cram, dinner, baths, and a little quality time with the kids in there, so I dont have time to wash the bedding everynight, and dont think it is healthy to leave him in the pee. So what do you do? His room already smells so bad from previous accidents, and we replaced the mattris once already. He also sleep walks, and is a very heavy sleeper. When we wake him up to pee, or for any reason, he stays asleep. It is strange.

There is not much you can do. Some children (which your son sounds this way) sleep so soundly they don't wake up when they have to use the bathroom. He will outgrow it, I promise you. But its not unheard of for kids to wet the bed into their preteens. Just make sure he is not feeling ashamed of it, as he can't help it. He will outgrow it. In the meantime just use whatever measures you need to to protect his mattress and your sanity. :) Good luck!

Everyone here has given great advice !
I try to not let mine drink too much after 6 pm, but that doesn't always help. I don't want to put him on drugs to stop it.
What I do with my 8yo is use the overnight pants. The drugstore ones like Rite Aid are cheaper than Goodnights. What has worked lately is setting my phone alarm and getting him up at 3 am to pee! A pain cause he, too is a heavy sleeper, but it works. Otherwise, he has bed accidents.
I'm hoping he will be like me and outgrow it!

i began without beverages after 6pm, wake them up and take them to the lavatory once you are going to mattress. it can be a sturdy concept to get a urine pattern into the medical doctors, there must be problem with severe blood sugar at evening or a habitual UTI - toddlers could be positioned on a low dose each and daily antibiotic. i got here upon the alarm device did not artwork - it is the small plastic sheet related to an alarm, you place it under the sheet and if it gets moist it sounds an alarm and wakes the youngster. My toddler went on medicine for this - desmopressin - this labored for us. identity say if he's merely 4 and merely does it occaisonally then save going with the no beverages after 6pm and ask them that might actually assist you alter the sheets and so on while they do have an accisent. sturdy success x

I would continue what you are doing with the diapers. My 5 yr old son wets the bed and he is diapered at night, I was a bed wetter up until my early teen years and I was in diapers every night until I stayed dry. From past personal experience, it is much better and I would say healthier waking up with a wet diaper than a wet bed which is the route we chose with my son. He will grow out of it, I wouldn't worry.

Be understanding of your child. This is a phase he is going through and he will stop. You'd be surprised at the amount of children who experience bedwetting. Not only is this frustrating for you having to change the bedclothes, buy diapers, etc. It's especially hard for your son who thinks he's the only one his age going through this. My son stopped at 8 yrs old. I was very concerned about him but when it was his time he stopped and so will yours. Try to be patient and understanding. This will pass.

Talk to his doctor.

Barring any medical condition, you'll just have to wait it out. Staying dry all night is not something you can teach your child to do - they are not wetting on purpose - they are simply sleeping through it.

In the mean-time, why clean sheets? Why not just use GoodNites or another brand of overnight pullups?

He'll eventually grow out of it....unfortunately it may take several more years. I know that they have a med that a dr. can prescribe that you squirt in the child's nose once in each nostril before bed (kind of like saline drops). Works like a charm and didn't need it anymore after a short while.

My youngest son occasionally wets the bed. I make sure he doesn't drink anything before bed and goes before he gets in bed. It usually works.

It sounds like there may be something medically wrong. Take him to the doctor.
