Not if both parties are of age. It is safer to make sure both are over 18 not just the age of consent. This is because the laws concerning sexual communications with a minor are not always in line with the age of consent. So in some states the age of consent may be as low as 14, the age at which you can discuss sex on-line is 18.
On a safety note, before you meet someone you met on line in a private location, you should meet them in a very public location. This allows you to verify that they are who they say they are. It is not uncommon for someone to think they are chatting with a pretty 20 year old girl when they are actually chatting with a 50 year old guy. Just be careful.
