Now since Sony introduced the 40GB PS3 that costs $399, I think that the PS3 will outsell the Xbox 360, but for now, I doubt that Sony will pass Nintendo in sales this early.
The PS1 and PS2 both sold over 100 million consoles, the Gamecube and original Xbox only sold a little over 20 million consoles. There are way more Sony gamers out there and I think eventually the PS3 will pass by Microsoft in sales by next year.
And as far as games, the PS3 already have good games out now, and has more exclusive games coming out than the Xbox 360.

I don't think they will shoot up until they have a larger selection of games.
