The woman's dress is always a full dress which fits over a long-sleeved blouse and full-length slips. An apron is then fitted over the dress and the "poyas" (belt) is tied around the waist. Unmarried women wear their hair in a braid down the back, married women use two braids and scarves. The total garment is known as a "sarafan," and is usually very brightly colored when colorful fabrics are available. In China and to some extent in Brazil, it was common for the women to weave their own cloth out of flax which they grew in their fields and then to dye it with juices from berries and other fruits. The main items of religious significance are the poyas and the cross on a chain or thong around the neck. These symbolize the bond between their bearers and Christ. The other articles of dress are determined by a combination of religious doctrines and nonsecular custom. The women, for instance, are never permitted to cut their hair. This is specifically forbidden in the Bible.

They also are never to show their arms above the wrists nor their legs above the calf in public, nor any other part of their bodies; thus, the full skirts.

eh..........it says dont let your adorning be the outward adorning of braiding of the hair or jewelry..........that is to say to draw attention to yourself as to say look at me i'm living something...................and even christian women do this as to say look how i'm dressed i'm a christian..............and the BIBLE says not to do that !!!!!!!!!And let your adorning be the INNER ADORNING of the Heart !!!!!!! Not the outer

It says for a women to Dress Modestly !!!!!!!!!!!

And yes many believe not to cut thier hair is a sign of christianity....and thats with a scripture that says her hair is a covereing and not to pray with her head uncovered........But get this fellow men...if that holds true then we ALL men are to be BALD...for it goes on to say a man is not to pray with his head covered !!!!!

Get to the facts here..........What one puts on wont save you
what one cuts off or keeps wont either.............This body is going bcak to the earth from which it came.......having hair or long dresses or the such wont save it any............but its the Inner man of the Heart and thier believe and Faith in Christ that will save..........not wearing apperal..........

Dress modestly ,means just that modestly..as to not show off everything...nor draw attention to yourself....but we are to put attention to Christ.............and if any are living as they should..they know Holiness......from..Filthiness.........and it dont take a scholar to know the difference...........nor long hair or a dress...............
And i've seen devil possessed....have long hair and a long skirt on...........didnt change the fact they was full of the devil and deciets and lies...............so the Dress or hair doesnt make the Christian...........a Christian.........many in Hell tonight left this world believing the way they dressed saved them........and many are still doing it today a outward adorning to just say look at me..............and inside as Jesus told the Pharisee's who dressed that way.........Your outside is clean , but the inside is dirty.....and full of dead mens bones !!!!!!

oh---well--thank you for the cultural information.

I'm not a man so I can't speak for men. But I think in America, at least, what Christian men are looking for in a Christian woman is a woman who lives a Godly life and loves Jesus Christ. I'm pretty sure that the Christian men here aren't quite so rule-oriented about what a Christian woman should wear.

I also have to disagree with you about cutting hair --At the time that was written, women who cut their hair were often prostitute-- but a one-passage mention of that must be weighed against numerous other passages and New Testament scripture as a whole, including the words of Christ, which clearly exhorts us not to be slaves to the law since we are living under the gift of the grace of Jesus Christ.

And, friend, women of 2000 years ago had very limited roles in society. Now that we are not limited by culture and are clearly qualified and able to do many different jobs and careers, hair down to our ankles isn't practical or safe. It's gross and freaky.

I really don't think God cares if we cut out hair, and when I die, if I find out he did and that it was a sin to cut my hair, then that sin will be covered, along with all my other sins.

Sounds rather drab to me, I'd want a bit more creativity and individuality in a women. I like submission, but only related to sex and if she enjoys that role, but otherwise I expect her to be a partner.
