Who cares? Animals are nothing but raw material for food and clothing.

I imagine this is what your video is about. From PETA:
To kill the animals without damaging their fur, trappers usually strangle, beat, or stomp them to death. Animals on fur farms may be gassed, electrocuted, poisoned with strychnine, or have their necks snapped. These methods are not 100 percent effective and some animals "wake up" while being skinned.
So, it's more of an unusual case where the animal is awake when killed. It's not an industry practice.
What to use instead?
There are many alternatives to leather, including cotton, linen, rubber, ramie, canvas, and synthetics. Chlorenol (called “Hydrolite” by Avia and “Durabuck” by Nike) is an exciting new material that is perforated for breatheability and is used in athletic and hiking shoes. It stretches around the foot with the same “give” as leather, gives good support, and is machine-washable.
Cold Hard Truth
Some hard facts are that people like using animal skins in a variety of things and it is cost effective as well. Much leather is a byproduct of the meat industry in the US. Better to use it than to just throw it away.
I know, I know, people will say we shouldn't eat the cows either, but the fact is we do, and that fact is unlikely to change.
So what to do?
1) If you don't like it, don't buy it. And I mean don't buy any leather goods or you are not really walking the walk that you are talking about.
2) Put your $ where your mouth is. Give money to organizations that support your beliefs. Pay more for goods that are not made from animal skins.
3) Put your actions behind your words. Volunteer with organizations that promote your beliefs.
4) Vote. Enough said.
5) Advocate with your legislators/representatives to effect change at the legal and policy levels.
and if you wouldn't mind not yelling and screaming that everyone who wears animal skins is a murderer I would appreciate it. It adds nothing to the conversation and only alienates those that you are seeking to convince.
I'm sure I'll get lots of flak for this but what the heck. It's just my two cents.

I work in the Beef industry but even with this history behind me that video is shocking, how anyone can treat an animal like that is beyond me, they should be put in a cage themselves and remove one by one and skined infront of the rest of them like they do to the animals.
Its wrong that no government step in and do something about this, its an outrage that in 2007 people can get away with this.

Just about the sickest thing I've ever seen. I was sickened and saddened to watch it, but thought I had to. So much suffering just to enable someone to make a few cents amd for someone else to wear fur. The people doing this should have the same done to them. I notice that our government is pretty quiet on this matter, it usually interferes with everything else. I wonder why.
Thank you Una Vaca for bringing this to my attention. It is not an education that I enjoyed, but it is an education that has quickly formed my revulsion for this fur trade.

I am not easily moved by graphic or gory images, I saw all 3 of the "Saw" movies with no problem. I am in the wildlife management field and I honestly am not bothered by animals being killed, it is necessary for food, clothing, tools, etc. I think hunting when done correctly is great population control for species whose populations are way above the carrying capacity and whose natural predators are no longer present.
That said, that was one of the most disturbing, horrific pieces of film I have ever witnessed in my 29 years of life. I don't even cry at sad movies or funerals but that brought me to tears. I find PETA rather irritating, but that video should be shown to anyone in or supporting the fur trade. Not to stop fur trading, per se, but to make damn well sure that you are not supporting these sorts of facilities. Come on, how much more effort would it have taken to club the thing out of it's misery or better, to have shot it or ANYTHING besides skinning it alive!

Considering the source on this one
PETA and all its members really need to do something about the incessant whining coming from they're direction that is about as Muderous as eating meat or wearing fur. While we are at it PETA should also be classified as Terrorists organization for supplying funding too known terrorists groups ALF and ELF. Support PETA and the Terrorists win

I really consider myself a hard hearted person but this video made me sad. I couldn't even watch the whole thing. I don't buy fur because it's gross. It won't really change my views on anything but I'd like to point out the savages doing this are from a third world country. I have hunted before and no human with any respect for life would treat an animal like this. This is what people do before they move on to killing humans. It's satanic and evil. One can only hope these poor creatures are vindicated.

I can't watch the video. I saw a story about 10 yrs ago on 20/20 on how in China they use cats as food. They take a live cat, put it in boiling water and skin it alive and then gut it, alive, and then send it to the kitchen.
I am still haunted by it and have difficulty buying anything that has once lived.
I am sorry but I just can't watch it although it is definitely something that the world US need to be made aware of.

will take ur word for it cos I can't bear to watch sickos profiting from defenceless animals!
apparently there was an article in the news that said people that protest against the wearing of fur are jealous cos they can't afford it! I don't think so, people that wear fur are mindless morons! and if that happens to be actress's & celebrity's then so be it! I could afford Fur if I wanted but i have a perfect warm coat with wool in it - why wear an animal pelt! My doggie has his own fur coat, it belongs on him as a labrador not on a human!
