Every day, things automatically come to my mind about what people have done to me throughout my life. Then there are automatic thoughts of revenge. I pray every day that God will take these from me, and He doesn't. So what must I do to get God to love me enough to fix these? Or is this the "messenger of Satan" that Paul referred to?

Not a person has answered the question asked. The question starts with "WHEN." The word when is a word to start a question asking about time. Nobody has said today, tomorrow, next year, never, or any other words relating to time.

I've tried years of therapy. I've tried forgiveness. I've tried all the other PC things and even non-PC things. I have done all the right things. So what else must I do to convince God to love me enough to take these thoughts away? I honestly don't care how He does it. I don't care if He sends me a miracle worker or causes me to be hit by a vehicle and develop amnesia.

God has loved you since before you were conceived. You don't have to do anything to get him to love you. I can so identify with you, my life was the same. I knew God would heal me of the bad thoughts and I kept praying but it just wasn't happening. Until one day He healed me! It's hard to do it on your own, but you're not alone. Counseling doesn't always help but Jesus will see you through all of this. The enemy harrassed him too. Have you read " the Father's Love letter"? Please follow the link and believe. God loves you and so do many of the people on this board, you're very lovable. God Bless you and I'll pray for your complete healing.

God tells you that you must do something about these:

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,

for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.

We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, "
II Corinthians 5:3-5

You must begin to address every thought that comes into your mind and either embrace it or cast it out, like you would shoo a fly from a room.
Someone once said "You can't stop the birds from flying over your head - but you can keep them from making a nest in your hair"

Now if the thoughts are too powerful and overwhelming you may need to ask Jesus to deliver you, as this could be caused by an evil spirit. "Whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord will be delivered" Joel 2:32
Still YOU need to resist the Devil:
"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. " James 4:7

You also need to remove the evil influences from your life so far as it lies in your power. Old posters, books, magazines, music - anything that glorifies Satan or the world - get rid of these (see Acts 19:18-19)

Then get connected with the people of God!

The prayer you need to pray is not that He take the thoughts "away" but that He changes your heart. I just had this struggle no more than a week ago and truthfully, it felt like there was fire in my chest I was SO p*ssed off.I could think about the transgression and it would spiral into really evil thoughts. I finally surrendered to God and asked Him to change me...take not just the thoughts but the bitterness out of my heart and I promised to let it go, even if the other person didnt change. When I woke up...the feeling was completely gone. Of course I could still BE p*ssed...the issue is still there...but God was faithful to remove it...and I cant get upset now...even if I try.

Satan is the one who puts these thoughts of revenge in your mind. God says to RESIST the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7) There are several ways you can resist him and these thoughts. Say out loud....since the devil cannot read your mind...." God I choose you and I renounce these thoughts of revenge that are from the devil." Another way is to read scripture, to pray out loud for those people, to sing hymns...the devil HATES those things and will not stick around! Another thing is.. forgiveness is not a feeling but a CHOICE. God says to do it....so He will give you the strength to do what He says if you will ask Him. Just having those thoughts come into your mind is not a sin....dwelling on them or acting on them is where sin comes in. God DOES love you enough right now! He says that His strength is made perfect in your weakness. (2 Cor. 12:9) It is not always easy to forgive....and forgiving does not mean to be a doormat or forgetting the things that happened. It means to let go of the hatred or anger inside YOU that is like a cancer eating you up...it hurts YOU....not the other person. So, forgiveness is for YOUR own good. I will pray for you.....I have had to pray for this in my own life so I really do understand....to have God GIVE you the forgiveness for people who have hurt you. It will make you feel SO much better to just give all that hurt to God.

Well, things happen for a reason. In middle school, I was ostracized and treated horribly. It had gotten so bad my parents pulled me out of that school and began homeschooling me. When I went into high-school everyone was more mature and because of the horrible experience I had at that middle-school it prepared me for High-school. I was able to stand up for myself and I didn't "sweat the small stuff". I am now strong and independent. You learn from those things. If you have prayed to God and he hasn't helped you than there must be a reason it is happening to you. I don't mean to sound like a broken record but "Things happen for a reason". God is in control. Don't worry about it. :) Your right though, it could be the "Messanger of Satan" trying to get you to believe that God isn't going to help you and you should just forget about it.

i think of that in spite of human beings think of they be responsive to approximately what is going on interior the universe, they actually have no clue. human beings don't understand that the Bible substitute into written by potential of human beings, God did not placed a e book in the international for human beings to study, because of the fact it rather is nonsense. each and every thing interior the universe is made out of something smaller and something greater suitable, there's no initiating and there is no end. If all of us thinks they have any clue approximately what's rather happening interior the universe they are extremely smug. God does not "micromanage" each and every thing in anybody's lives. God is a mixture of anybody and each thing interior the universe, not a single entity of itself. there isn't one component interior the universe this is a single entity of itself, not coinciding interior of something else. it somewhat is not a a procedures better skill or greater suitable than something, it somewhat is the unexplainable and unobtainable.

God isn't going to just take this away. You have to work on it yourself. I have had the same issues. It took a lot of analyzing my own thinking patterns and figuring out *why* I held onto these things. Praying is fine, but you need to take a deeper look at your own nature and maybe even consider some counseling. God will help, but you have to work on it, too.

I test I use to see if I have truly forgiven someone is think about them walking into the room. If you want to punch them in the face, then you have not forgiven them. My next point is when you have been hurt really bad its very difficult to forgive. You have to know forgiveness before you can forgive. How is your relationship with Jesus?

Every time I have problems with anger or forgiveness, God is waiting on me to give up part of my life that I am trying to control(and frankly screwing up that part royally).

I just said a little prayer for you.

It is like sitting backwards in a vehicle, lamenting that whenever you relax from turning your head to the front, the back reappears. To turn yourself around is to turn your back on the past. It is still there but then you have to strain your head to see behind you. To do this you must embrace the future. Dive in, feel the thrill, become obsessed with tomorrow, and when you feel that you are truly facing it with your whole being, then you can indulge in turning to peek at the past while all along keeping your back to it.

Read Joyce Meyer's "battlefield of the mind". It really helped me alot. I really didn't think we could control our thoughts but you sure can, only through God and the strength of the Holy Spirit. First of all you need to forgive all those who have hurt you. That way God can work, by not forgiving you're harboring sin and letting Satan have rein over your thoughts.
