It takes just as much faith to believe in atheism as it does to believe in God. To make the absolute statement “God does not exist” is to make a claim of knowing absolutely everything there is to know about everything – and of having been everywhere in the universe there is to go – and having witnessed everything there is to be seen. Of course, no atheist would make these exact claims. However, that is essentially what they are claiming when they state that God does not exist.

No. Since it's just a lack of belief it takes no effort at all. It takes faith and effort to not be an atheist.

It isn't even something you choose to be any more than choosing to be a non-sports fan. Some people are atheists and have never even thought about whether they are or not.

Like some others you may have a misconception about the word.

".faith that nothing exists but this world" "They have faith that God doesn't exist" These are not at all what atheists believe.

Some may but then you can't generalize about people whose only commonality is not being theists.

Does it take faith to not believe in the existence of a herd of two-headed purple unicorns at the center of Antarctica?

Not for me.

I only get called an atheist because I haven't a belief in any deities. Not because I have faith that they don't exist, i just haven't received or discovered any evidence of a deity that isn't anthropically transparent, contrived, human-made mythology.

Honesty means using one's reasoning skills and BS detector.

I am just honest.

I could be mistaken for not believing in deities, but I would prefer to be honest and make an honest mistake other than believe in something arbitrary that I can't touch see or feel just because other people do.

I could be wrong for not believing that aliens made us on one of their days off. I could be wrong for not believing that someone's moon somewhere is made of cheese. But unless I have evidence/experience, I am not required to believe anything.

Nothing to do with 'faith'. Just my honesty. People of faith sometimes don't get this.

No, just a disbelief.

Does it take faith to not believe in Santa, or the Easter Bunny?

Not much, faith in reason, rationality and logic perhaps.

'Faith' really isn't the word.

One only has to think.

Let me ask you, do you have faith that fairies and the easter bunny don't exist? No. You just know they don't and would be justified in that opinion until proven otherwise. So it is with we atheists.

No. We all born atheist, in other words with no belief in any god(s). It is something which is learned as we grow. Some of us choose to stay free from such nonsense.

There is no faith involved in refusing to accept something being told to you. I also do not believe in Santa, or fairies. It is identical in nature to not believing in god.

No.

One does not need faith, as our beliefs are in logic, fact, and science.
